This incredible new 80's synthwave version of What's Your Damage song "Exit" has been beautifully assembled in part by Captive Portal and just released to all digital networks. Make sure you head to your favorite and give this song a listen. For us 80's music fans and those who grew up as little ones in that decade, this song is the perfect tribute and flows oh so well. Really, check it out. Follow: captiveportal and whatsyourdamage_chicago .
Noise Ratchet have announced their reunion by being added to the Furnace Fest 2024 lineup and they've also teased the vinyl re-release of their now classic album, "Till We Have Faces", originally released by The Militia Group in 2002. The band would go on to record and release a follow up EP for The Militia Group before departing for a major and recording their ill fated full length with Rick Rubin which was shelved and has been in the vault ever since....
Early 90s indie pop darlings The Swoon have just released a new version of a long-lost track from 1990, originally released on a demo cassette. The band have premiered "Army of Plenty" on YouTube, and have been hinting at the possibility of a new release in the near future.
Alright, you're gonna need to buckle up for this one. For two reasons: 1) Koinonia has a somewhat lengthy history, and the band's members are/were probably more connected than any other band ever in contemporary Christian music; and 2) they were a jazz fusion band, which is probably not a genre most IVM readers are astutely familiar with. The band formed in 1980 and were active throughout that decade before disbanding in 1991....
In 2004 I released the greatest EP that very little people got a chance to hear. MySpace didn't have a big enough reach and I was a nobody from Orange County with Indie Vision Music, trying to play with the big boys. This band deserved worldwide acclaim and their live shows plus studio performances were a testament to that endearing appeal of music and message. These Hawaii gents that uprooted their lives to move to Portland, Oregon and chase their dreams was the very reason the record was titled "From Paradise to Parking Lots". I've been lucky and fortunate to have worked with some very talented people over the years and Pennylane certainly were no exception. Those early IVM label years were but a brief flash in my mind but I learned a lot and failed even greater. It's all good times to me even with dumpster fire failures 😉 I still remember a friend bringing the demo of Pennylane up to me at one of my Chain Reaction shows and sharing their music, I'm forever grateful. So, happy 20th anniversary to this release and please follow the band to see what they have cooking @pennylane.band They will put the EP back up very soon! Check out the music video for "Riverside Waiting", their epic 6min+ Emo Rock Anthem, below this message if you've never seen it before. I believe that's the only music video IVM had the pleasure of sharing from the 2003-2004 label days. Check it out!
A really great new band called The Pale Moonlight has formed and features Conrad Tolosa formerly of Ghoti Hook alongside his wife Julia (Divebomber) and friend Jordan. You can check out their first track which is a cover of Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry", below this message. For your Instagram followers just search up "The Pale Moonlight" on YouTube.
