“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 (warning: graphic video below)
Today’s song of the day is “Do or Die” by Dogwood taken from the 2001 release “Matt Aragon”. I feel it is a great song to hear today as we reflect in rememberance of the crucifixion of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The lyrics as a whole are so impacting, but I myself can’t help but focus most on the first pre chorus and the bridge close to the end of the song:
[Pre Chorus] “It makes me fall apart when I think of all that You went through. I owe my all to You.”
[Bridge] “I met the Son of God today. He said, “I forgive you for my pain.” He took my sin that held the hammer that drove the nails through His skin. He said I win.”
Just so powerful and beautiful!
The video I selected has some parts in Portuguese, but the story of Christ’s sacrifice can be understood in any language. The video is graphic, but I feel it should serve as a reminder of the suffering that Christ went through in becoming a sacrifice for us.
If you feel the video is too graphic, then please find another video of this song or an alternate way to hear today’s song to meditate.
Christ bless you!
Thank you, Marco. This song is beautiful. One of my all time favorites.
My pleasure, Kavin! It’s such a great song for any time! I remember when I first heard it. I wasn’t even close to being saved yet. I just liked Dogwood because of their music. I never really listened to the message. I realized years later that the Lord had been using artists such as them to call me unto Him. Praise Jesus! Christ bless you and keep you safe!
Amen!! Bring bak dogwood!!
