Song of the Day: Zach Williams - Fear is a Liar

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

I picked Zach Williams “Fear is a Liar” as the song of the day to help others remember that Fear is not of God, especially with all that is going on. Amongst all the panic being caused by the media over the COVID-19 virus, I have still seen examples of Christ through those who are willing to lend a hand to those who are elderly or in poor health by going and buying essentials for them so they don’t have to put themselves at risk by leaving their abodes. By those bonding together under quarantine and singing a song together through their windows to lift each other up. By others giving of their own shopping carts to someone who got there just a little too late to get toilet paper, water, etc.

These individuals are doing exactly what is stated in 2 Corinthians 5:15 “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” and also what Christ called us to do in Matthew 22:39 “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Us as followers of Christ need to heed these words! We need to love, care for, and lift up one another always, but especially in stressful times as current!

I know it’s natural for people to panic, but we shouldn’t be fearful! We are followers of Christ! Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Because of this we are hopeful, we are assured, we are saved!”

With the current state of affairs, I keep thinking of scripture where Christ is sleeping on the boat with His disciples and the waves are crashing all around them: Matthew 8:25-26 “And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and sea; and there was a great calm.” Why are we so faithless? Why are we fearful? We have hope, brothers and sisters!

Dogwood stated it best in their song “Do or Die”: “My legs will walk the earth until You tell me my work is through.” This is yet another reason to not be fearful! We have all been created to serve the Lord in this life, and have an appointed day and time that He will be calling us home! Just as it was revealed to Peter in John 21:18 what death he should glorify God.

So I leave you with this, Joshua 1:9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Christ bless you!
