Grave Declaration is (was?) a symphonic/atmospheric black metal project from Norway. While that’s not so unusual, what set the band apart was its distinct emphasis on worship. Self-touted as “worship metal” the band’s lyrical emphasis was on a praiseworthy connection to the Creator. Their sound is firmly within the atmospheric branch of black metal, as opposed to the more raw, primitive sounds often associated with the genre.
With ties to stalwarts Antestor, and underground legends Vaakevandring, Grave Declaration had the pedigree and the chops to prove their worthiness. They initially released a stellar EP in 2008 through Momentum Scandinavia called The Nightshift Worshiper, but didn’t follow up with a full-length for another 5 years. When Dying Souls Scream Praise was released through BombWorks in 2013.
Unfortunately we haven’t heard from the band since, and not much is known about any current plans or whether the band is finished for good. It would be a shame if that was the case. There is, however, another more recent side project, going by the name of LUTEØKS.
“Change of Heart” is the lead-off track from the full-length, When Dying Souls Sing Praise.
Awesome band, awesome music. Really like the music of Luteoks also!
I haven’t heard them yet. Need to check it out!
Definitely check them out- great music! Lyrically it is a parody album- most of the songs are in their native tongue. My favorite songs off the album are Skjegg, We Sail, Shaved Vengeance, and Prikkedoden
