So this band reminds me of Memphis May Fire. Yeah, I saw them around, but never listened as they never landed on anything Christian related that I saw. Until maybe 10 years ago for both bands. Thrice is very well known obviously so I started to listen to their back discogs. They got some great stuff & this is my face from them, but please check out their other stuff. And yes, their songs are in the mainstream. Also, Check out their vocalists Dustin’s solo stuff
In case you missed it, Thrice released another new song. This one is called "Only Us" and is streaming now on Apple Music and Spotify. Their new album Palms comes out September 14th and you can pre-order it on thrice.net. You can also listen to their other recent single "The Grey"…
Ignescent is a female fronted modern rock band from Chi-town. Their first album was produced by Wyrick in 2008 who had headed up Rugged Records back in the day & released a couple of sweet industrial tinged LPs. Since then, the band has released a bunch more stuff including Remnants…
On this slow Sunday I figured I'd do a little video flashback from the band Thrice. This song "Red Sky" appeared on the band's 2005 full length effort, "Vehissu". Following up the chart topping, fan favorite "The Artist in the Ambulance" seemed like a troublesome task but take a skilled…
Mmmm nope he’s still a Christian I don’t know what you are on about. He believes a liberal Christian theology known as Process Theology, but he is a Christian.
I wasn’t the author or a commenter here until just now (I blame covid for messing up my last 2 weeks). I’ve always enjoyed the music of Dustin and the other Thrice members. I’ve been a fan since right when Hopeless Records (Sub City) released “Identity Crisis” years ago and have followed each and every album since that one. They are local (to me) and I’ve seen them multiple times starting just before the Illusion of Safety album cycle and up through The Alchemy Index albums. Each time I’ve seen them was like a new experience. I was a big… Read more »
Process theology is not just a casual difference on opinion but a complete distortion of the whole Christian tradition concerning God being unchanging and whether developments in cultural ideology should be seen as more authoritative over Scripture. When the study of Church history (and history in general) is lost, and when biblical literacy is low, just excusing it as a difference of opinions is like letting people step into a bear trap for their souls. I, like many others, enjoy Thrice musically – but I do grieve as well.
I like what you said here Casey. I’m very much pro-scripture and 100% Christian. I don’t need to deconstruct or make excuses for my Faith to fit the narrative of other peoples stereotypes and shortcomings. The word of God is not a prop or trophy you put on the wall. It is our road map for the life we are supposed to lead. There is a lot of music I enjoy and of course not all of it is defined as “Christian” music. I do have issues listening to some groups who go out of their way to apologize for… Read more »

seeing thrice being compared to MMF is weird. MMF doesn’t hold a candle to thrice’s music and lyrics.
Yeah, I totally agree with you. This post and the author’s opinions are his alone. We are all free to write what we want on IVM and not everyone agrees. That’s what is fun about opinions, everyone has one. Thanks for visiting IVM and joining in the conversation.
shame that lead singer Dustin Kensrue turned his back on the faith, a look at his twitter page seem to imply that he’s not goin back to it either
