I stumbled across this band the other day and had to give their latest EP a listen. This Surrender are described as an Easycore band out of Brooklyn, NY. but I would add in worshipful lyrics and a message of hope built on love. As their bio says, they are inspired by the likes of Killswitch Engage, For Today, alongside Four Year Strong and A Day To Remember. It was just announced that 2 legends from the long running alt-rock band known as Sixpence None The Richer will now join the long running and highly influential band – 10,000 Maniacs! That’s right, Leigh Nash who fronted Sixpence and has gone to make great solo music under her name will join 10,000 Maniacs as their new touring vocalist and Matt Slocum who was also a legendary songwriter and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist for Sixpence will join the band as touring guitarist. For this special Saturday in July I thought I’d share another really great project with you this time from a group called “Generation Gone“. They are a melodic hardcore punk band out of Southern California featuring a heavy, hard hitting sound that is melodic at times and furious all the time. The music is loud but the production is above all the rest (makes sense since the famous producer Paul Miner has his hands on producing these tunes). This low key, somber indie rock dream sequence of a song titled “The Ballad of 54” by the band The Lost Chorus just dropped on digital networks and it’s an absolute winner. It’s unlike most stuff out there. The cool thing is that this supergroup of sorts features collaborations between Andy Zipf and members of Stavesacre and Project 86. It almost takes on this movie soundtrack vibe with haunting vocals and melodies that have this dark feel of sorts. It’s good stuff and definitely worthy of listen after listen.… Continued →

They absolutely kill it and their bright & poppy sound is full of heartwarming melodies and engaging sing-a-longs inspired by all those early to late 00’s emo/poppunk jams yet forging forward with a sound all their own. If you want a classic, nostalgic flow with energetic vocals and hard hitting guitar/bass/drums, then Static Ultra is for you.
