REVIEW : Theory Hazit - IT'S WHATEVER

A member of the mighty Scribbling Idiots crew, Theory Hazit has an impressive discography to his name. He’s the artist behind underground classics like Extra Credit, Thr3e (produced by DertBeats), and Fall of the Light Bearer. If you’re familiar with his work, you already know he’s an incredible emcee. But sometimes words don’t suffice and you just have to let the music speak for itself; this is what he does on his first beat tape of 2017. In usual beat tape fashion, there are a lot of tracks to choose from.… Continued →

The Best of 2016: Graham Wall

1. Showbread “Showbread is Showdead” How couldn’t I include my favorite Raw Rock band on this list? It’s sad that this is the final Showbread album, but I don’t think they could have ended their legacy any better. I didn’t think very highly of the last two albums, but “Showbread is Showdead” had me reminiscing on the good days of “Nihilism”. Any album that includes a song with a Korg synthesizer, screaming, a booming bass guitar, and a chorus that sounds like a cheerleader squad is cool in my books (e.g.… Continued →

Descendantz - Undeniable

Earlier this month, Rapzilla premiered Descendantz’ music video for “Undeniable.” For those unfamiliar with this classic group, its members include Eddie Nigma, DJ Morph, and ELPro. Erick Dayz, Datin, and Selah the Corner join the crew to showcase their skills on the track. If you’ve been bored with hip-hop lately, you won’t want to miss out on hearing this face-melting song.… Continued →

REVIEW : Trip Lee - The Waiting Room

“The Waiting Room” is Trip Lee’s sixth project. As mentioned in this article from Fuse, this is not a proper album per se, hence it being deemed a ‘mixtape.’ Such a term is one of ambiguity, as it can refer to an album with blending and scratching, where the songs flow together, while it can also refer to an album with non-cleared samples and stolen beats from bourgeois producers or beat makers. Trip offers something that differs from both definitions, and I think he does so successfully.… Continued →

Sho Baraka Shares "The Narrative"

Sho Baraka’s fourth album “The Narrative” is now available and can be downloaded for free at Humble Beast’s website. The CD can also be purchased at their web store. Those already familiar with Sho’s work will be aware that this is his first contribution to the record label, and it certainly looks like a promising release. At 14 tracks long and with features from Jackie Hill Perry, Lecrae and others, “The Narrative” looks like an apt addition to the label’s discography. The CD even features images of The Cross Movement, G.… Continued →
