REVIEW : Song of the Day: Rich Mullins - While The Nations Rage

Indiana’s Richard Wayne Mullins is a vital part of the Christian music industry. Besides penning & performing one of the best worship songs of all time, “Awesome God”, he also was a very talented musician who was proficient with the piano & the dulcimer which can be heard on many of his songs. His first couple albums did not gather much radio play, but The World As Best As I Remember It Vol 1 & 2 garnished many songs heard all over the radio at the time.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Aaron Sprinkle - Invincible

The Sprinkle brothers are very talented & have been very busy in the music world. Just think about all the bands the 2 of them have played in: Poor Old Lu, Demon Hunter, Rose Blossom Punch, Fair, Blank Books, The World Inside, The Wrong Mind, Serene, A Cold Vein & Transparent, amongst many others. Although most projects Aaron has worked on lean to the alt-rock genres, 2017’s Escaping Light had a synthpop indie flair. Elle Puckett from Poema & Eisley guest vocals on this SOTD.

DENS - Even (Tamed Tongues Sessions)

DENS has put out another track from their upcoming “Tamed Tongues” release. The song is “Even” and is a new version of the same track featured on the band’s 2020 album, “Taming Tongues”. This song/version is further proof of this band’s unmistakable talent and continued draw as one of the great new indie bands gracing our music scene here in 2021. Just when you thought “rock” music didn’t have anything new or relevant to offer, I present to you the band DENS. This hard working band has been at it for nearly a decade in one form or another.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Kiros: Broken State

Kiros (Greek for a moment of divine time) was a Canadian punk influenced modern rock band that had an 11 year career ending in 2013.  It also appears a review was made on their release prior to today’s SOTD on this very website! Today’s SOTD is extremely catchy so check out these lyrics & hilarious video! Careful living Is reckless at the core You trade in sell out Is this what I’ve waited for It’s so inviting Pursuing empty dreams With hearts left behind But I can’t resort to settling When I just want some clarity Cause these blurred lines are all I see Illuminate I can’t afford the price you’ve paid to Recreate But I can’t take this broken state of me These shallow things Don’t help me feel okay It’s wasting my time Instead of walking on the waves I’ve been so resigned To life in black and white But I have this time To add some colour to the sky There’s a conviction, there’s a reason that I’m reaching for Cause in this fading place I can’t help thinking that there so much more

Radical Radical - Misfit Toys (Official Music Video)

Adam Lohrbach of Home Grown fame returns with his latest creation, Radical Radical. He dropped his debut song titled “Misfit Toys” which is a wild, nostalgia driven ride through pop-punk soundscapes and grasping close at those heart strings. You can find this new song in music video format which fully expresses the joy, the hope, the past, and the future all rolled up into one tasty song meant to inspire. If you dig pop-punk of old with a little “EMOtion” thrown in for good measure all the while sharing this story from Adam’s view point, well then “Misfit Toys” is for you.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Harvest - Let's Fight

Pulling from the way back archives, Harvest was an original ministry oriented band from Texas. Comprised of Jerry Williams, Ed Kerr & Paul Wilbur when I first heard of them, their releases appealed to Christian radio big time. Mostly an 80’s band, their discography entailed many early Christian radio hits ranging from the worshipful All That Is In Me to the rocker We’re Gonna Take Hell.  I always dug Jerry’s voice & his charismatic way of leading the audience to see Jesus. A few years I did communicate w/ Ed on social media who was involved with teaching music.… Continued →

Introducing: Archetypes Collide (Video In Post)

WOW!!!! I guess it was sometime last year or maybe the year before I first came across these guys. When I did, the first material I heard of theirs was really heavy hitting stuff, really good, really promising. Then, at some point things seemed to get far more melodic and tame. At the end of 2020 however, the band released a new track called “Your Misery” (see the video below). This track took everything I’d heard from them to this point and blended it PERFECTLY. “Your Misery” has its melodic feel to it, but it also punches you right in the face with how heavy it can get.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Willet - You Are Not Just Holy

Another holy SOTD that belongs in my top 20 worship releases! Formerly known as Clearview, this hard rock band had some great songs such as Disaster, Wineskin & We’re Not Keeping This Quiet. Also check out the video for Searchlight which features American Sign Language. Hailing from Maryland, the 3 Willet brothers have since disbanded circa 2019. Members are still in the industry leading worship & filing & editing music videos. Check out these worshipful lyrics & the live video. As long as I live, there will be praises upon my lips And all my days will be spent loving You, You are worthy to be praised As long as I live, I will sing to you with endless praise Every knee will bow and tongue confess, that Jesus is Lord Just when I thought that this world was enough You were, you are, and you are to come!!… Continued →

Song of the Day: Trouble - The Tempter

Doom Metallers Trouble’s debut Psalm 9 release has been out for 30+ years. Imagine that!  Signed by Metal Blade Records, the 1984 album is commonly known as one of, if not the first doom metal releases. They were given the “white metal” moniker because of the obvious Biblical references.  I had a friend who passed recently who hung out with the band back in the day & it was nice to actually meet someone who listened to my “Christian music.” Guitarist Bruce Franklin would go on & join Supershine w/ Dug from King’s X & also release an outstanding industrial album generation-Brutal Reality.… Continued →

Carman Homage - Our Turn Now

This is an impromptu review in homage of Carman’s passing. For those who may not know who he is, he was a singer/songwriter/performer whose music was all over contemporary Christian radio in the 80’s & 90’s. He did many ballads, but also dabbled with rock & rap & even kids music. Many of his songs were stories put to music. To get a good overview of his more upbeat stuff from his extensive discography, check out the following songs & today’s SOTD: A Witch’s Invitation, The Champion, God’s Got an Army, Addicted to Jesus w/ DC Talk, Great God, Who’s in the House & Sunday School Rock.… Continued →

Sef Idle - Blindsided (Music Video + Album Info)

Sef Idle the talented singer/songwriter behind such critically acclaimed punk bands like uniSEF and False Idle, returns as part of a special 4 Way “Split” with other great musicians like Dennis Jaguard, Rob Lanterman, and Russ Worstell. This punk rock troubadour conveys so much truth, and so much broken hearted honesty that you can’t help but sing along. This new “solo” song is built around his acoustic guitar but with a full studio sound even though it’s just a one man show, if that makes sense.… Continued →

Exclusive Premiere: Brotality - Biohazard

We are excited to bring you the brand new music video from heavy (metal) band, Brotality. This song is heavy, it shreds, and is full of head banging fun. The band mixes up sub genres of METAL while remaining true to themselves and composing a sound all their own. It is an impressive accomplishment especially considering the collective ages of each band member. This band should be commended for their skill and for rising to the top despite their young age which might be a hinderance to other bands of this caliber.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Devil Wears Prada - Chemical

This review is in response to one of my fave metalcore bands that I just noticed having reached enough popularity to find themselves on Radio & Records Mainstream Rock chart. Other bands who have started in the Christian arena & found their way on the same chart are Underoath, Beartooth, Wolves At The Gate, Love & Death, Chevelle & Skillet to name a few. There are many valid arguments on Christian vs mainstream routes, but my take & honest opinion is that I like the exposure.… Continued →

August Burns Red are Standing In The Storm

August Burns Red just dropped an imaginative and creative new music video for the song “Standing In The Storm” which can be viewed below. Download the “new” song wherever you get your music from, digitally. This is a catchy new song for this metal band and comes up sounding like a cross between A Day To Remember, Killswitch Engage, Gideon, War of Ages, and As I Lay Dying. Love the guitar solo sound. The band also has a special “Standing In The Storm” hoodie and some other merch in their official store right here.… Continued →

Fallstar Drop Captivating and Extremely Catchy New Song

Fallstar dropped a really great new song back in mid December that this site over looked (sorry, blame Covid and the Holidays lol). It is an incredible representation of a band here to leave their unforgettable mark on the music scene with a catchy anthem sure to win over even the most skeptical fan. Check out the music video for “Waiting”, below. The new album “Sunbreather” is out February 12th through Facedown Records and is sure to be one of the finest Facedown Records of 2021.… Continued →

The Juliana Theory Seek Comfort in "Better Now"

The band The Juliana Theory, are back with a brand new song titled “Better Now”. This is a follow up to their surprise come back single, “Can’t Go Home”. As is evidenced in their music videos, the band is now just 2 members – Brett Detar and Joshua Fiedler in what can best be described as a pop-rock duo. “Better Now” is an emotional and inspirational anthem perfect for 2021 about rising up through trauma and overcoming pain. While these 2 new songs may be a departure from their past emo-pop-punk sound of their prior albums that doesn’t necessarily discount their new music any.… Continued →

Pantokrator - We The People (Official Music Video)

Swedish Death Metal band, Pantokrator, are back with a brand new song titled “We The People” off the album “Marching Out of Babylon” due out January 29th via Nordic Mission. Pre-Order the album in several different formats including CD, Vinyl, and Tape, right here. This is quality stuff my friends and showcases a band that straddles the line between the brutally heavy and melodic. It’s like a battle between darkness and light but in music format. Check them out.… Continued →

Song of the Day: With Open Eyes - Winds Of Change

I dig most “core” music genres, & there are tons of them (metalcore, screamo, nintendocore, etc…). One of my faves is electronicore which fuses unclean (growled or screamed vocals) with clean & double bass pedals & a lone keyboardist (which this song has the perfect mix of imho. Formed in Rock Hill, SC, at a pentecostal church, WOE i one of my friends son’s band. My friend Paul Gaskin is the youth & children’s pastor of the church which is also known for a Helloween event that showcases a “haunted house scenario”, but shows how life’s end can be very scary without our Saviour Jesus.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Miss Angie - Lift My Eyes

Angie Turner is the given name for soloist Miss Angie who has been releasing music since 1997. She was married to Oran from Johnny Q Public (whom I saw back in probably circa in their hometown of Springfield, MO). 2 LPs were released in the 90s that went to the Christian market. Consisting of what I would consider 60s esque/bubblegum/hard alternative rock music, the music was hip & akin to Veruca Salt or what I think Avril Lavigne would have made if in the Christian market.… Continued →
