On this slow Sunday I figured I’d do a little video flashback from the band Thrice. This song “Red Sky” appeared on the band’s 2005 full length effort, “Vehissu“. Following up the chart topping, fan favorite “The Artist in the Ambulance” seemed like a troublesome task but take a skilled band like Thrice and the end result further proved that the band’s prior success was definitely no “fluke”. This was and still is a band that is here to stay. Thrice has made intelligent and progressive Post-Hardcore that fans truly are enamored over for nearly two decades now. This little trip through the past is best summed up in one word, PASSION. Yeah, the passion this band has for their craft is nearly unmatched in the realm of music, further proof of their enduring legacy. I mean how many bands go on hiatus then return with the strongest work of their entire careers (‘To Be Everywhere is to be Nowhere’). Whatever piece of this band’s history you prefer the most or least, you can’t help but be drawn in and captivated for hours. I look forward to this next chapter in the legacy that is Thrice. Also check out this new video for “The Window” by Thrice.
Thrice - Red Sky

It’s sad to me that there are people who are still stuck on The Artist In the Ambulance – certainly not to take anything away from that album, but more so that people can’t seem to appreciate the progression that Thrice has showcased over their career. It’s a huge part of why they are my favorite band. Their back catalog is so diverse and it made their live show so amazing when I saw them this summer.
I’m really enjoying this track and video. The passion on this song is very compelling. I haven’t got around to listening to this record yet, but that’s going to change quite soon. Also, I am very pleased that IVM is back up.
