The Classic Crime's New Album 'How To Be Human' Out April 28

By in News | 9 Comments

It’s been a quiet 5 years for The Classic Crime besides releasing an album of reworked fan favorites. The quiet has ended with the announce of their 5th full length album titled ‘How To Be Human’ on BC Records. The LP will feature 12 songs that are reportedly in the vein of Death Cab For Cutie mixed with Motion City Soundtrack.

This continues the trend of The Classic Crime venturing further from pop/punk/rock to an indie rock sound that began with their 2010 release, Vagabonds.

Happy Birthday to me! What a nice gift from one of my favorite bands 😀 Can anybody suggest some of their favorite Motion City Soundtrack & Death cab songs/albums? I only songs I can recall hearing are “I Will Follow You Into the Dark””I Will Possess Your Heart,” and “Black Sun” (wow, that’s just about the creepiest series of song titles I’ve ever seen, haha).

1) What a fantastic observation those 3 songs titles all have creepy names. Add to it the fact the band name is Death Cab For Cutie, you might get an entirely different idea about them without hearing their music. Haha. 2) I’d recommend checking out “Transatlanticism” and “Commit This To Memory” by DCFC & MCS, respectively. Those are probably considered their “classic” records, and they just so happen to be my favorites. Other Death Cab songs I’d recommend are “Brothers On A Hotel Bed”, “Your New Twin Sized Bed”, “I Was A Kaleidoscope”, “Marching Bands of Manhattan”, and “Grapevine Fires”.… Read more »

I can’t recall newer Motion City Soundtrack or Death Cab songs. I think the last time I bought a Motion city soundtrack album was in 2007/08. I’ve never been a big Death Cab fan, those songs you mentioned though are alt rock staples. I’m still excited for new The Classic Crime. I dug their last 3 full lengths, especially Vagabonds.

I’ve always been a moderate fan of TCC, but new music that sounds like Death Cab & Motion City Soundtrack certainly has my attention. I’m looking forward to hearing what this will sound like.

Completely agree Zac – Silver Cord was their very best album for me.
