On April Fool’s Day, Fair announced a new album entitled “Luncheons and Wagons” to be released on July 8th, 2017. Naturally, skepticism on the legitimacy of this news is high. However, Fair’s Facebook page has been quite active the past few weeks. Now that we’re a few days into April, there has been no mention whether the announcement was indeed an April Fool’s joke. Many readers will remember Copeland announced they would be returning with a new record on April 1st, 2014. Conversely, July 8th, 2017 is a Saturday, which deviates from the standard record release day on Friday. Until more information surfaces one way or another, we’re simply left to speculate, but here’s hoping we’ll get another album from one of Tooth & Nail’s best kept secrets.
On Fair:
Fair is a studio band comprised of Aaron Sprinkle (vocals, guitar, piano), Erick Newbill (guitar), Joey Sanchez (drums), and Nick Barber (bass). They have previously released two albums on Tooth & Nail Records: The Best Worst-Case Scenario in 2006 and Disappearing World in 2010.
They just confirmed on the post it was a joke.
I would die. But for now, I just cry.
I say we just do a Kickstarter FOR them and then send them the money 😀
That’s a great idea and I would totally back it
Force ’em into doing a record…it’s a little devious but I like it. 🙂
I’m choosing to remain fearfully optimistic, but maybe that’s even too much. I’ve been hoping we’d hear about the Blank Books record soon, but I don’t even know what to believe now.
Jesse Sprinkle shared a stream of a new Blank Books song late last year and I was told the album was nearly done. It’s surprising that we haven’t heard anything more about it. It’s straight up rock and is so good. Maybe they’ll just turn it into the next Fair record (if enough people express interest). I am sure that was the whole intent of the “joke” post, to weigh interest in their music. For me, I’d love another Fair record and Blank Books stuff. Frankly, any of Aaron’s projects sound really good.
I’ve been wondering why we haven’t heard more information on the Blank Books record. I guess I’ll just keep waiting and hoping we’ll hear something about the Blank Books or Lo Tom record, which are both close to being done, if not already done.
Jesse was recently on Billy Power’s Urban Achiever podcast and it sounded like Jesse/Aaron have a project in the works, but the release is delayed due to “contractual obligations” related to Aaron’s solo project just releasing. If I remember correctly, the same thing happened with Ryan Clark’s “Nyves” and “Low & Behold” projects back in 2015.
Such a cruel joke
I am much less optimistic that this was anything but an April Fools joke. The difference between this and when Copeland announced their reunion and new album is that Copeland also had preorders and a video of the band playing a new song on their website.
Don’t get me wrong, a new Fair album would be amazing to have, I just don’t think it’s happening.
