I mentioned this band back at the beginning of the summer in my post “7 Bands I’ve Discovered on Spotify This Year” but since they’ve got a new single out this weekend I thought I’d take time to give them a proper introduction. Apollo LTD is a alternative pop band from Nashville, TN consisting of Jordan Phillips and Adam Stark. The band is signed to Residence Music, a subset of Centricity Music, who goal to help Christian artists who desire to make more than just worship songs. While their new single “Gold” might not be the best representation of that ideal, IVM readers might enjoy some of the songs from their EP Out of Body which released back in the spring. Check out the songs “Gold” and “Heaven” below.

Not to start this debate for the 1000th time but having a goal of making “..more than just worship songs..” sounds cringe and only perpetuates the stereotypes theyre trying to avoid.
The story behind their name if it helps: “Why do you think your name truly represents this group and the music that you create? – the Apollo program was birthed out of a desire to do something we had never done before as a country. I suppose when we started the band we wanted to make music that we hadn’t ever made prior. It was new and fresh… it was our version of going to the moon in a tin can. Where did your name come from in the first place? – My uncle was an astronaut growing up. So… Read more »
I like some of their songs, but I am very disturbed about the name of their band Biblically. It seem if they are truly born again believers they would understand why they should change their name. They got my notice with the song Patient and Gold, but I have to wonder if they are really referring to Jesus Christ. I am going to quit listening if I can’t find a solid answer, better than an astronaut in the family. They should give their testy about Jesus.
I am very musically diverse. I love so much music. But Heaven is one of my favorite songs of all time. Needs no explanation. It just is. Not even sure where I heard it the first time. Thank you for this beautifully written expression of love.
Sincerest wishes for your continued success!
Sincerely,
Erica (also from Nashville)
