There are moments in history that change things forever. Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address. Armstrong and the moon. Peter Griffin and the Chicken. The latest to be added to this list is the brand new ultraband comprised of members from 2 of the hottest up and coming punk bands – Homeplate and Makeshift3. When asked about the band, called Makeaplate365, Cody Thompson, drummer of now defunct “Homeplate” had this to say “It is a pyramid scheme. I’m really worried for my friend. Now excuse me while I hit this BBQ sauce.” Let’s hit the interview with David from the new band, Makeaplate365, below.
Brandon/IVM:
So, who is in the band?
David/MAP365:
Me and the drummer.
Brandon/IVM:
Cody from Homeplate?
David/MAP365:
No, the other.
Brandon/IVM:
Okay. What was the decision behind naming the band with the first word of Makeshift3?
David/MAP365:
Makeshift3 came first man. Paved the way. Instrumental in how music was formed and changed. Without them we wouldn’t have bands like Newsboys, Nate Parrish, Ted Nugent and For Today.
Brandon/IVM:
And 365?
David/MAP365:
Because Office365. We figured since it’s a professional business product that we would be more professional if we used it too.
Brandon/IVM:
So, what songs are you working on
David/MAP365:
We have a few covers like Adele’s Hello? and Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd so far.
We have a few originals; it sounds like pop-punk metal. Who do you think we sound like?
Brandon/IVM:
When using the word “superband”, you corrected and said “ultraband”. Can you tell us why?
David/MAP365:
Yes, because a superband is consisted of 4-7 members but we can have as much as we want.
Brandon/IVM:
As much as you want?
David/MAP365:
Yeah, like if you want to be in the band all you have to do is buy 5 autographed CDs, then I get to keep my position, then you sell CDs to keep your position and I make a profit. Get it?
Brandon/IVM:
That… sounds like… you know what? Tell me how this came about?
David/MAP365:
Well to be honest we gotta move these CDs. That’s the goal. And to be the first ultraband? That sold me. We both found out we love Thanksgiving, and honestly that’s how we made the name. A lot of people thought Homeplate was a baseball reference but it wasn’t, I’m talking about my favorite Thanksgiving plate back home. As a matter of fact, I hate baseball. My uncle died at a baseball game so baseball is very traumatic to me.
Brandon/IVM:
I haven’t heard that story before.
David/MAP365:
Yeah, he owed the mafia money. But anyways, that’s what Makeaplate365 stands behind.
Brandon/IVM:
Okay well thanks for doing the interview and we hope to hear some material from you soon!
David/MAP365:
Thanks! Who do you think our band sounds like?
Hello?
