Shorthanded Release New 3 Song EP/Single

Shorthanded have just released a brand new 3 song single/EP titled “Loco Lucky”. Listen to the title track below and comment with your thoughts. These songs are extremely well done and really quality stuff. I love this pop punk vibe. Make sure to listen to the last 3 songs they released over the past year. That’s 6 new songs from a band thought to be lost to the sands of time. Way to go Shorthanded! Follow: shorthanded_rocks on Instagram.… Continued →

Introducing: The Caballerials

I was alerted to this band The Caballerials by a friend and must say that their brand of pop-punk is anything but boring. Fun emotionally charged pop-punk with a heavy 2000’s vibe that’ll please fans of Home Grown, FenixTX, Blink-182, Man Alive, Ace Troubleshooter, and even Olivia The Band. Like the Olivia The Band these guys also reside from the state of Hawaii and create some pretty meaningful yet entirely fun new music. Check out their latest EP “Waxed Curbs and Suburbs” below via Spotify or pull it up on your favorite digital network.… Continued →

"Another Bitter Microcosm" - Zane Vickery's 'Breezewood'

It might seem strange to cover an album that’s already several years old – yet not old enough to warrant any significant anniversary milestone. It might seem even stranger to do so the same week the artist in question is releasing a new song. But I’ve inevitably found myself enraptured in Zane Vickery’s debut album, perhaps even more deeply than when I first discovered it. Sure, songs like “Weighted” and “Scales” stood out to me from the start. But time progresses, we grow older, and the chasm between who we are and were seems to ever widen.… Continued →

REVIEW : Joseph Cutshall - Stay Close

Marc Cohn’s “Walking in Memphis” meets The Assembly Line’s “Tonight” on “You Will Find”, the first track off Joseph Cutshall’s latest release. While Stay Close is branded as folk rock, there’s something a bit more intricate at play here – hints of 90s and 2000s singer-songwriters, subdued ambience of acts like The Frozen Ocean, and even more standard indie fare in general. Don’t expect a mostly-acoustic, Americana-flavored release. This is a record adorned in dynamics, evident from its first notes. Neither so is the record fixated on any singular subject for too long – a true theme might like wrestling in the valleys between sight and certainty that we call faith.… Continued →

Song of the Day: L.A. Symphony - Next

One of the larger, more legendary cyphers in Christian hip-hop, L.A. Symphony came to us from where else but Los Angeles. They emerged in the late 90s with a few 12″ singles and a full-length album on member Flynn Adam Atkins’ own independent label Eartube Empire, via which Flynn had also released a full-length solo album earlier. The group’s breakthrough came in the form of 2003’s The End is Now for Gotee Records. I had the privilege of booking/hosting the group for a youth event in Atlanta in the mid-2000s.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Mylon & Broken Heart - Again and Again (RIP Mylon)

Okay, Mylon LeFevre is a stretch for inclusion on Indie Vision Music. But hear me out. He wrote a hit song for Elvis Presley in 1964, “Without Him” for the king’s Gospel album How Great Thou Art. He was only 17 when he wrong the song (in 20 minutes according to the songwriter), and was paid $90,000 for it. He walked out with a paper bag full of cash and bought his first car, a Corvette. His connection to Gospel music came earlier, as he performed with his southern gospel singing family The LeFevres.… Continued →

Oyarsa (Ex-Comrades, Eaves) Release Debut EP

Oyarsa, featuring members of Comrades and Eaves, continues in the technical and emotionally-charged lineage of its progenitors, opting for an even noisier, frenetic sound. The band debuted last summer with their first single “Lament” – now, they’ve surprise-dropped their first EP. I don’t know about you, but I think Facedown Records should come pick these guys up right now. The EP isn’t yet on streaming services, so hear it below first! Song of the Day: Holy Blood - Jerusalem

Ukraine’s Holy Blood formed in 1999, originally playing hardcore, before turning to death metal and eventually settling on a folk/black metal fusion. The band has released 6 full-length albums and an EP since 2002, with later releases featuring a strong folk influence. Waves are Dancing is their sophomore release and features a near-perfect fusion of folk metal and extreme metal, with elements of melodic death metal, thrash, and black metal. Most of the bands albums have been released in English versions in addition to recordings in their native Ukrainian tongue.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Steve Scott - Heaven Hears the Heart That Breaks

British-born poet/artist/performer Steve Scott has been involved in or connected with Christian alternative music since 1983, having emerged from Croydon (South London) via the Bowery (New York City) before winding up in Sacramento, CA with the Exit Records scene there (Seventy Sevens, Charlie Peacock, etc.) where his debut album Love in the Western World was produced by Steven Soles (of Alpha Band fame). His solo work was a gleefully artistic take on new wave and/or post-punk with literate lyrics that pointed to his art school upbringing.… Continued →

Furnace Fest 2023 Comes To Close

Well, Furnace Fest 2023 just wrapped and has come to a close. Although I wasn’t able to attend myself in person, I was able to check out some live performances online that looked killer. I see that Drain was a highlight for a lot of you as was sets from Turnstile, MxPx, Chasing Victory, ZAO, Living Sacrifice, Ghoti Hook, The Insyderz, Terror, Bane, and many more. HolyName looked like a highlight as well, bringing in their heavy worship to a crowd that probably wasn’t there for it as much.… Continued →

American Arson Return With 3 Song EP + Album November 3rd

American Arson just dropped 3 new songs on all digital networks in advance of their upcoming album titled “Sand & Cinder // Tide & Timber”. By the sounds of these 3 songs, we are in for quite a surprise. What a fantastic way to close out 2023 than jamming out with crowd and scene favorites – American Arson. Their particular brand of Post-Hardcore meets punk and rock is truly something awe inspiring. It’s amazing to watch the progression from Good Luck Varsity to this which is without a doubt, one of the finer things to drop on Facedown Records genre wise, in the past year or so.… Continued →
