Dismissed Take The Good With The Bad for 19 Years

It’s hard to believe that 19 years have passed since a young 24 year old Brandon connected with a band of youngsters that nobody outside of our very small small population of Orange/San Diego counties had heard. I remember eating some tasty tex-mex food at Chevy’s (remember that place?) here in Laguna Niguel, CA. back in early 2003 and through the talking noise of fellow patrons with full bellies of perfectly formed machine made tortillas, I discussed the future of IVM and a band, Dismissed. It changed my life, quite literally.… Continued →

Watashi Return From Hiatus and Drop Two New Singles

You might recall a couple posts over the past few months about the return of Watashi Wa and I’m excited to finally share the fruits of their (reunion) labor. The band is back and have just released 2 new singles through Tooth & Nail Records with a full length “People Like People” due this spring/summer through the label. The two new singles feature some mighty guest spots (and I hear the album will have even more!). First single is “Let Me Prepare You” and features Gasoline Heart.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Apostle - The Sword

One of the most beloved and respected bands in the traditional heavy metal scene, Apostle was a slight anomaly in that they never released an album on a record label. Formed in 1983 in Jacksonville, FL, the band released a total of 5 independent full-length albums (not to mention EPs and compilations) all while remaining an unsigned band. Apostle opened for Christian metal stalwarts Whitecross on a national tour, and also had a song featured on East Coast Metal for Regency Records, in 1988, where I first heard the band.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Zao - Savannah

Zao is a metalcore band that formed from the spirit filled hxc scene back in the 90s. Seen them a few times & hung out with them back in the day. When they were in Myrtle Beach, I yelled & they ended up playing my song Lies of Serpents River of Tears & then the crowd wanted Skin Like Winter. A good video to watch is their documentary The Lesser Lights of Heaven. Anyways, if I had a daughter I wanted to name her Savannah. The song, though, eludes to sin & its devastating effects that can lead to suicide.… Continued →

Relent - Heavy (Official Music Video)

Relent have just put out an extremely powerful, truthful, and eye-popping music video that is revealing as much as it is a sad revelation of what goes on in the darkest places of humanity. The video centers around the horrors of sex trafficking and the evil desires of mankind’s perversion. Lust kills and destroys the spirit of so many but there is hope. Watch with the mindset to share and make changes.… Continued →

Watashi Wa Are Back in 2022 and With a New Album

It’s quite Clear that 10 Years and Separating States are not enough of a Fleeting moment to Look at Watashi Wa, a band who has very much been missed. They may have lost a few battles but they’re certainly gonna win that war. Don’t count a good band out and they aren’t the wrong kind even in the slightest. It’ll take all of me but I’ll be cheering loudly for this band’s return to form. Look for a new album very soon (in 2022). It’ll be fun and exciting, kinda like the air I breathe.… Continued →

Maylene & The Sons of Disaster to Play at Furnace Fest This Year

In what many would consider an absolute miracle, Dallas Taylor and the boys in Maylene & The Sons of Disaster, are coming out of what some had called – “a permanent retirement” to play one of the biggest underground festivals of the year. Don’t ever count a good band out and certainly don’t discount God’s mighty hands on someone’s life. Witness this mighty rebirth at Furnace Fest this year and get ready to rock out with one of the best bands around. A miracle indeed.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Antivenom - Sacred Funeral

There is an absolute plethora of underground black metal bands in the Christian scene. While this is a fact to be celebrated, at times it is difficult to judge the quality of releases, when there are so many. Antivenom actually managed to escape my attention until recently. This band, like many in the scene, is fairly mysterious. I don’t know where they are from, although one member (whose name will be recognized by Christian bm aficionados) is Armath Sargon (Armath Sargon, Elgibbor, Katumus, Light to Dead, others), who is from Finland.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - You Do The Talking (Lyric Video)

Names Without Numbers return with their first NEW song of 2022. The song is titled “You Do The Talking” and it deals with issues of self doubt, social anxiety, and maintaining confidence while attempting to stay strong and dealing through the emotions. It’s a powerful track not just for subject matter but also because the music is some of the best out there. This is without a doubt one of the band’s strongest songs on record and one of my personal favorites. Check out “You Do The Talking” below.… Continued →

The Blamed Re-Record "Separation" for 2022 and It is HUGE!

The Blamed just re-recorded their 1994 classic song – “Separation” off the album “21” and have posted it on soundcloud for your listening pleasure. Personally, I think this song blows away past material. It’s so well done yet classic at the same time. If 1994 was 2022, this is what “Separation” would most definitely sound like. Kudos to Bryan, Jim, and the rest of the gang for paying tribute to your roots while at the same time embracing the future. I can’t wait to hear what comes next!… Continued →
