Also, the question was never “is it safe…?” It’s been safe throughout the pandemic for most of us. It’s just not safe for the elderly grandmother we might visit after or my mum who has MS or my sister who has a weak immune system and an underlying heart condition or my colleague who has diabetes or the bus driver who can’t afford time off but has a lung condition etc. It’s all the other people we come into contact with. I can only speak to the situation in the UK and not the US, but it will be a long time before I venture out to see live music again. I just don’t want to be around crowds anymore. I work in a college and that’s enough for me. Our vaccination programme is speeding ahead though so hopefully businesses can begin to open up safely soon.
I hear both sides. For me at this point it comes down to the covid fatality rate vs the suicide rate. Both are so important. Vaccines for high risk should be the answer to solve the dilemma but we will see..
