Is it a bit pompous to call your band “God”? Maybe. But what’s particularly interesting about this band is we know nothing about them. Band members are completely anonymous. Is it even a band, or a solo project? Where are they from? No idea. Because the project is completely designed to “Challenge you to consider Him as well as your life & death through the power of music,” they figured the best way to do that was anonymously.
And you know what? I can respect that. Add to that the fact that all of the band’s four full-length releases are available on a free/pay-what-you-want basis, and it adds some credibility to their story.
But what’s the music like? And more importantly, is it any good? Let’s answer the first question first. It’s entirely instrumental–no vocals or lyrics. Very heavy and melodic, yet also very progressive, with the occasional core-styled chunky riffs. While it’s difficult to pigeonhole God into one single genre, it’s probably best described as ‘progressive djent metal.’ Lots of huge guitar riffs, complicated rhythms and time signatures, and super long songs. In fact, this track, “Revelation” comes from the album of the same name, which features 22 songs–one for each of the chapters in the book of Revelation, and clocks in at over 2 hours!
Now to the second question–is it any good? No. It’s phenomenal! I don’t tend to listen to this style, but the incredible musicianship and their use of melodious and epic soundscapes draws me in every time. If their purpose is to get you thinking about life, death and God, they’re doing a pretty good job of it.

I concur! This is awesome music! Probably my favorite song of theirs. I do like many more though- Prayer, Trust, etc..Everyone who likes good metal music should check this stuff out.
This band/project is great. All their albums are solid, and I listen to them when I need something musical to get my creative juices going.
