Holding onto old plans, I never thought I’d see a second chance.
Now it stands right in front of me.
So I’m running where you’re calling, and trusting all you said.
To lose the things I shouldn’t bring, and keep my eyes ahead.
Wake up. Wake up.
Night always turns to day.
Shadows that blocked your path will have to hide their face.
Look up. Look up.
Don’t think about what’s been.
That past can’t hold you back from wanting to step in.
Why should we ever play it safe when something great is waiting past the break?
So I’ll keep my face above the waves.
And all the time we take will not be for nothing.
Running into old friends reminds me of the days when I’d break down, and start to drown every time it rained.
You gave my mind a new frame, and gave me a new pace.
So even when the skies turned grey, I’d give you everything.
Wake up.
First EP was great, and so is this! I’m digging it.
Really missing Ross Kenyon on this. Wonder when the switch happened.
The song is so great, except the weird effects on the chorus. I love melodic hardcore and most of those bands faded and died (see the recent Close Your Eyes post) or moved on from the faith/the sound (Altars/Hundredth). I checked the song briefly earlier today but cut off before the chorus. I was pumped to back and listen to the whole thing and preorder. Those vocal effects though… I hope the whole album isn’t like that. This would be an instant buy if not for that. I’ll wait for another track as it is. Just keep it more raw… Read more »
I think we should expect more of those effects. Joel has recorded the whole thing in his own studio home or one he records in. He often has a certain vocal technique when it comes to his recordings. I really want to hear more songs because this one isn’t my fave. I loved the first Ep
