Poor Old Lu have just announced that they are starting a kickstarter in mid-July, on the 15th to be exact, for the vinyl pressing of their classic album “Straight Six”. The album has been completely remastered and will be available on vinyl for the very first time EVER! They will have a couple “stretch goals” with some pretty amazing bonuses so you’ll want to check all that out. It was just announced that 2 legends from the long running alt-rock band known as Sixpence None The Richer will now join the long running and highly influential band – 10,000 Maniacs! That’s right, Leigh Nash who fronted Sixpence and has gone to make great solo music under her name will join 10,000 Maniacs as their new touring vocalist and Matt Slocum who was also a legendary songwriter and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist for Sixpence will join the band as touring guitarist. Some exciting news has just surfaced. A couple independent filmmakers have moved forward with their plan to document the 2nd big revival that took place 1980-1995 which featured a collection of Christian Artists on a mission to reach the lost and seeking youth who were very much looking for answers and in need of a savior. One of our music scene’s best kept secrets is the band The Prayer Chain. They released their final full length in 1995 to much critical acclaim but at the time I’m sure it slipped under everyone’s radars. Well that now “classic” album “Mercury”, is available once again via all digital networks and streaming sites. I’ll be streaming it myself from Spotify today! One of my favorite indie singer/songwriters, Arthur Alligood, returns with a kickstarter campaign to fund his upcoming new full length record. He is working with a couple Toad The Wet Sprocket members (as well as other guest musicians) on this album and it’ll be produced by Mikal Blue who has worked with groups/artists like Five For Fighting, One Republic, Jason Mraz, and Colbie Caillat among others.
