Introducing: Strange Her

The guys in this band contacted me to share their new music. At first I was a little hesitant probably due to the name itself but then I listened and was instantly blown away. Strange Her are an explosive indie rock band that would please fans of As Cities Burn, House of Heroes, Emery, The Classic Crime, Anberlin and maybe even a little Silversun Pickups and Funeral for a Friend. Good stuff and uplifting. Songs of substance. Their new album “A Marginal Sea” is out soon and you can check out the new music video for the song “The Scarlet Cord”, below.… Continued →

Anberlin Tease Reunion With New Profile Image

Update: The band has changed their official website and have posted this same image. Anberlin has been dropping little hints the past few months that are leaving fans guessing. Today they swapped out their profile image on facebook with a new pic that appears to be a photo taped back together. Could this be symbolism? Could this another hint at a reunion? Or is it just a standard photo image swap and/or nothing at all? You debate below and talk about your favorite Anberlin moments from years past.… Continued →

Throwback Thursday: Anberlin - New Surrender

In this weeks edition of my Throwback Thursday series we’ve got Anberlin’s album New Surrender which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this Sunday. Brandon included New Surrender in his list of the best albums of 2008 feature last month, here’s what he had to say about it: There was a time years ago where I ripped the direction Anberlin took with this album and I now regret those words. This was a polished, commercial sounding record but the songs resonated with me and listeners across the globe.… Continued →

The Best of 2008: 10 Years, A Look Back

10 years ago seems like it has passed within an instant. Some of these albums listed below are forgotten hits and some are still being played today. This list are my recommendations and mine alone. Feel free to disagree with my selections. Check out some of these now “classic” albums from the year 2008, below. The Best of 2008: 10 Years, A Look Back. Brave Saint Saturn as #1?… Continued →

Anberlin Tease Return?

If Anberlin’s recent post on Instagram is any indication of an imminent “reunion”, count me as excited. I love this band and any mention of new music from them is certainly reason enough to justify a GOOD DAY. I didn’t really understand their breakup the first time (a hiatus would have been sufficient). Check out the post below and discuss among yourselves. Anyone game for more Anberlin music?… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - The Apathy Anthem

In case you missed it last month, I had Drew from Rival Consultants create a lyric video for the new Names Without Numbers song “The Apathy Anthem”. It came out pretty cool I think and if you give it a chance, I am sure you’ll enjoy it too. Names Without Numbers are an alt-emo-rock band from Nebraska who recently reunited after an almost decade long absence. Their music would please fans of Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin, The Classic Crime, Taking Back Sunday, House Of Heroes, Acceptance, and Thrice.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - Meet the Band Video #2

In celebration of the upcoming new music from Nebraska based indie rock/emo band Names Without Numbers, the band has been posting these special “Meet the Band” type videos on their Facebook page. They will do it every week leading up to the May 21st release of the brand new single on IVM and the launch of their IndieGoGo campaign. Check out the video (both of them) below. Make sure to visit them on Facebook here and say hello. This talented group of men known as Names Without Numbers for those that are unfamiliar with their music would most likely earn a fan out of you for those that enjoy bands like Anberlin, House Of Heroes, The Juliana Theory, Jimmy Eat World, and Taking Back Sunday.… Continued →

Bring Anberlin Back!

While Anberlin remain as a much loved personal favorite and staple of my music diet, I can’t help but wonder if it has been just too short of time for a “reunion” to happen. What say you, is 3 years not enough time to have a full Anberlin reunion, tour, and album or should they wait a couple more years? I guess if Underoath can come back so soon, so can Anberlin. The members of Anberlin can all have their own unique spin off projects and solo stuff but nothing will ever compete in the same fashion with the mighty music of Anberlin.… Continued →

The Best of 2007: Favorite Hits From 10 Years Ago

Hey friends it’s that time again, time for another “list”. Feel free to offer up your big Laugh-Out-Louds and smirks for some “hits” I found appealing 10 years ago. A lot of stuff from that year was enjoyed by me, some I am rediscovering, and others were missed opportunities. Check out my “list” below and feel free to listen to the playlist I created on Spotify for this list found in the article. Remember kids, “some” of these releases may not have the best language so if you get queasy at the thought of dirty words from general market (do we still use the word ‘secular’?)… Continued →

Anchor and Braille - Songs for the Late Night Drive Home

REVIEW : Anchor & Braille - Songs for the Late Night Drive Home

Even the title of Anchor & Braille’s latest release conjures powerful emotions. Driving at night is certainly a mixed bag of emotions, but I’ve seen my fair share of it. Whether it’s driving through hours of open country fields or through a busy city at five in the morning, there’s a nature inclination to be pensive and introspective. While it’s sometimes good to throw on something with a bit more energy to stay awake, the natural setting is dark, moody, quiet, and empty. Characteristically, Stephen Christian manages to capture this mood to some degree.… Continued →

Anberlin's "Cities" Ten Years Later

It’s been ten years since Anberlin released their third record, Cities, on February 20th, 2007 through Tooth & Nail RecordsCities is widely regarded as the Florida band’s finest release and for good reason. Their first two records offered a strong start for the group and showcased an increasing realization of their potential. Cities is simply where it all seemed to come together. The album highlights are almost too numerous to list. The record contains high energy rockers such as “Godspeed” and “Adelaide”, quiet, heartfelt numbers in “The Unwinding Cable Car” and “Inevitable”, mid-tempo songs like “Alexithymia” and “Dismantle.… Continued →

Anberlin to (Possibly) Press Vinyl Box Set One More Time

Anberlin which broke up in 2014, has stayed relatively busy behind the scenes with producing an incredible (that I wished I owned) Vinyl box set featuring all 7 full length releases along with a coffee table book. As was expected, the vinyl box set sold out a few months after going on sale, all 1000 copies sold out. Sellers across third party sites are marking these things up double and triple from what they originally went on sale at. It’s crazy. I waited too late personally and due to unforeseen circumstances wasn’t able to purchase when it was on sale.… Continued →

Stephen Christian (Anberlin) Records Debut "Solo" Album

Stephen Christian (Ex-Anberlin/Anchor & Braille) has begun recording his debut “solo” record for BEC Recordings with a release date planned in 1st quarter 2017. I have been listening to Anberlin this past week and realized what a truly great band they once were. I weep when I realize Anberlin is no longer with us as a band but at least we have their recorded music to remember them by. The band also began shipping their retrospective discography on vinyl last week.… Continued →
