Love this song. So heavy & so meaningful. The band goes by just Forerunner now & I play them on my Ripper Radio show. Check out these lyrics.
Why do I always give in, turn to the things that torment my soul, when will I finally submit, and give You all I am, Lord break me and rip these chains that always hold me down, tears from my eyes as I can’t resist, I am once again, once again, being taken away in the wrong direction, Lord take me away from this bondage, from this bondage, I don’t want to be a slave to this world, I want to run away from the pain but I can’t, I do not need you, I do not need you any more, I need to stand my ground, and look you in the face, I need to stand my ground, and put you in your place, I need to stand my ground, my King is here, and look you in the face, He lives in me, I need to stand my ground, whom shall I fear, and put you in your place, my King is here as I point to my chest, He is alive in me, no more will I succumb to darkness I am set free, my chains are broken, I am set free, because my Savior went to the cross and died for me [x2], I am released from this bondage, and the enemy tried to bury me, but I won’t, I won’t, back down, and I will look him in the face, no, you weren’t from the bottom, you were sent from Hell, you sent to bring me down [x2] and now I send you back to hell.… Continued →

Song of the Day: War of Ages - Collapse
WOA is a great band to see live & lots of bands I have spoken with have taken at least some type of inspiration or respect for them. This one has always been my fave. I am adding on to this as their drummer Kaleb passed away recently since I had written this. Let’s remember him in our thoughts & prayers.

Kaleb Luebchow In Memoriam
It is sad to write this as most of us know by now that Kaleb has passed on July 27, 2022. Most of us know him for his amazing drumming work. He was originally from Champaign, Illinois which is about 45 minutes from where I currently reside. He has worked with many bands including War of Ages, The Burial, Hope for the Dying & a few others. Let us remember him as a brother in Christ who has gone home to be with our Saviour. Here are a couple songs that showcase his drumming abilities.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Bloodlined Calligraphy - America's Next Top Model
Blo0odlined Calligraphy was a hardcore/metalcore band hailing from Michigan that featured a female vocalist> They went from Selah to Strike First to Facedown Records in a matter of 3 years. Vocalist Ally also plays piano, but this SOTD is straight up heavy. I remember Jaddeus from RadioU’s hxc show playing this son on his show & I have dug it all these years. Also check out Isaac is the Champ.

Song of the Day: Fit For A King - Skin And Bones
Bam-this is hands down one of my fave songs of all time from a band that hails from the same town as another great (softer) band Eisley. This ballad just has some type of energy with its musical prowess & soaring vocals & provocative lyrics that makes me contemplate my life & relationship with YHWH. FFAK also still keeps releasing more music it seems like very year & vocalist Ryan has recently joined forces with Chris Wiseman from Currents on the metalcore project Our Eternity (see my review on that January 27, 2021).… Continued →

Song of the Day: August Burns Red - Chop Suey!
How many of y’all like covers? Well, ABR has done several & have made them into their own metalcore sound. Covering songs from Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Saves the Day & The Legend of Zelda, Nofx, tons of Christmas ones & now System of a Down, they are always welcome to my ears. Apparently, they played this one during soundcheck before their shows tons before finally deciding to do a cover. It is also one that they showcase more of their clean vocals than before. The single was released December 15th on Fearless Records which is the label that has brought us music from Starset, The Color Morale, Blessthefall, Wage War, Classic Case, The Almost & my fave band of all time, Underoath.… Continued →

Have You Ever Heard Of: Mattie Montgomery
So Mattie is not a soloist per se. He is the former dreaded frontman for disbanded metalcore bands For Today & Besieged. He branched out & has 3 prophetic teaching CDs that are basically short sermons set to music. He currently serves as the pastor of a ministry he founded called The Altar Fellowship.
Here are the lyrics for his 2nd sermon from his first album, Restless
What is my destiny? What is God’s plan for me? Who was I made to be?
Now, these are questions that are in every one’s heart.… Continued →
