Song of the Day: Beloved (US) - Like a Song (U2 Cover)

Beloved (US) released this absolutely flawless cover of U2’s classic song, “Like a Song”, last month. It is without a doubt, one of my favorite cover songs by an artist we write about and quite simply one of the best songs of 2020. To be honest, I wasn’t as familiar with this U2 song as much as their other more famous tracks but nonetheless the band put their own unique spin on it and blew it out of the water. It’s not only lyrically poignant but the sound quality of this one song is on par with anything a major label artist would release in 2020.… Continued →

Beloved (US) Return With a Blistering and Ferocious Cover of U2

Beloved (US) are not taking a back seat to this whole 2020 fiasco of a year. They have recorded a cover of a U2 song and I assume will release it any day now. Watch the teaser clip below. This band hasn’t lost one ounce of energy since their long hiatus and the energy is even more ferocious and on fire than it was in the past. It’s almost as if some of that Advent magic is rubbing off on this Beloved sound. So good.… Continued →

Seeking "Cover Songs" by Christian Artists for New Playlist on Spotify

I am sending this post out there into the webiverse to gather songs for a new spotify playlist I just created. It is (tentatively) being called “The Best Christian Cover Songs” and is a play off Christians who cover popular (and not so popular) songs. Please list artist name covering a song and song title below this post in the comments section so I can take your suggestions and add them. What you see now on Spotify is just me recalling stuff off the top of my head.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - Style (Taylor Swift Cover)

This launched yesterday and IVM is a day late in posting (I blame my turkey hangover). Names Without Numbers and Indie Vision Music have just released the band’s new single “Style” which is a Taylor Swift cover and done extremely well. The song will appear on the band’s upcoming full length “Silos & Smokestacks” due out December 13th. The song is available now on all digital networks. Check out the music video by clicking this link here on YouTube. The band have also launched pre-orders right here for the album on their own store site and have some pretty sweet options available including Hoodies, Shirts, CDs, Hats, and more.… Continued →

Sef Idle - At Arm's Length (Hangnail Cover)

I really have to draw attention to one of the most excellent acoustic pop-punk “cover” tracks done in recent memory. Sef Idle has been playing for years fronting and playing guitar for bands like uniSEF and False Idle but has recently come forward as a skilled acoustic-punk singer/songwriter. Sef Idle just released “Someday, Today” back in May and it is a fitting reminder of how raw, natural talent can captivate the listener. It’s not that often that you hear a Christian singer/songwriter in this genre be so overwhelmingly effective with honesty and conviction, letting the music do the talking through words and song.… Continued →
