Grandpa Loves Rhinos are about to drop another new song from their upcoming album and you can watch the teaser clip below. The song is called “Fostering Patience for Patients” and is a deeply personal song about foster care. It also features the talents of Andrew Alojipan of Kept On Hold doing some mighty fine background vocals. Two special things are happening next month, the 20th anniversary of Indie Vision Music and the 20th anniversary re-release of the debut EP from my pals in Names Without Numbers! 16 years ago Indie Vision Music released a little known EP by a little known emo/indie rock band from Kauai, Hawaii known as “Pennylane”. So much has changed in the years since both professionally, musically, industry, and personally, that those years seem like such a blur. I just remember a friend passing this self released EP to me at one of my Chain Reaction shows that the band released on their own and loving every second of it. Australian based indie rock/emo band – Thinktank, are officially back, for the time being. They have a show scheduled with Seraphs Coal, Antiskeptic, and STR (another awesome Aussie band) May 29th and “hopefully” working on new music as teased in a short video. The band released several influential releases back in the late 90’s and early 00’s before hanging it up. Check out a couple albums on Spotify and other digital networks now. The band plays a blend of emotional rock and post-hardcore, all exploding in one brilliant piece of music. A huge show (Chain Fest) just got announced for the Five Point Amphitheater in Irvine, CA. on May 23rd 2020. Featuring bands like Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Circa Survive, Saves The Day, Cartel, Glassjaw, and our friends in Anberlin, as well as Acceptance. Juliana Theory has announced that coming this June, we can expect to see a few shows by the full band reunited! The guys are already booked for Furnace Fest in September, but will also be playing shows in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA. Whether more will be added, we can only guess. This wasn’t the typical Further Seems Forever song of unbridled aggression, melodies intertwined into some sort of cosmic explosion of pure joy and instant approval by even your most jaded friend. This song was somewhat of a departure although still incorporating that classic “emo” sound they’d been pegged with for years. Something about this song evokes passion and unrelenting “worship”. Maybe it was intentional or possibly an unintentional after thought but this song leads one into contemplation and self-analyzing, directing you into a heaven’s gaze. Jon Bunch despite any shortcomings he may have had in the eyes of vicious teens and young adults who had blood thirsty claws out for the throat of this “new” vocalist, captured the attention of generations of different music fans despite genre.… Continued →

To brush my bangs to the side, or not to, that is the question. For some, emo means The Jazz June, but for others, it means Hawthorne Heights … ad infinitum. While emo is a genre that is difficult to define, I would say that Chase Tremaine combines emo, indie, and pop—think Mae or Number One Gun. Unfall begins with “Matter,” which makes a good first impression with its wonderful guitar and a chorus that immediately gets stuck in your head.
