Are you one to seek out some new bands to listen to? There are so many bands and labels out there, it can be easy to let some get by you, but whatever you do, don’t let Raven Faith Records be one of them. Raven Faith Records is a newer label in a way and has a roster that is well worth checking out. A few bands worth mentioning here are Peter118, As We Are, CPR, Desiring Dead Flesh, Thre3, and The Bricks. Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh are primed to release a new EP this Spring and we’ve already been given a taste  from their first single, “On the Inside“, but just this past week, we were treated to another track from the EP titled “Give Me A Sign”. This new track maintains their heavy sound, and is really driving and aggressive. The screams you might expect to hear are absent, but it by no means detracts from the track, it’s really quite great. There’s a noticeable growth in their songwriting as the song is very well broken up, musically speaking, making for a really enjoyable listen.… Continued →

Many of us have been eagerly awaiting something new from Death Therapy, and today is the day! The new track, “My Defiance” is available now on all digital platforms (click HERE). The track contains many elements common to the previous album, “The Storm Before the Calm”, however this song is notably heavier than anything on that album, in my opinion. The song features crushing, heavy guitars, guttural screams, and some rather melodic choruses. The song also features a guest spot by Josh Kincheloe of Glasslands and he sounds great on this.… Continued →

Rockfest. The name is carrying more and more clout as the days pass, and rightfully so. Founded by Seventh Day Slumber frontman, Joseph Rojas, Rockfest kicked off as the City Rockfest Tour that would showcase both up and coming bands as well as more seasoned acts, all pretty exceptional. This year’s lineup will feature Righteous Vendetta, Seventh Day Slumber, The Protest, Random Hero, Zahna and Amongst the Giants. Wow.   Rockfest, then came to become the moniker for the newer label, Rockfest Records. After a long absence, These 5 Down have returned, bringing their style of hard rock back to the masses with a new album titled, “The 2nd Coming”. Amongst the Giants released a beautifully scathing album, “Obscene” last year. If you haven’t heard it yet, you’re really missing out. On my personal “Best of 2018” list, I gave them the #1 spot for a reason. Give it a listen and I think you’ll quickly see why. But I digress. Just a couple weeks ago, the guys released a new music video for the song “Too Late”. The video is really impacting and touches on some pretty real issues a lot of people face. So, 2018 is behind us, another year on the books. After having put together a list of my favorite releases for the year, I decided to try going in the opposite direction and form a list of the albums I’m anticipating most in the coming year. RED have just launched a large donation based campaign to fund the release of their next studio effort. Check out the campaign right here via GoFundMe and watch the video below. As of date of this post they’ve raised $45k of a $100k goal. This will be an independent release (so far). Lacey Sturm who is now a rockin’ solo artist (and former member of Flyleaf) has announced alongside the members of Skillet that she will be filling in for Jen Ledger on a few upcoming Skillet tour dates as a co-vocalist. Ledger is currently touring as part of Winter Jam Tour. Speaking of Lacey Sturm, she has announced that she is working on a album follow up to “Life Screams”. A while ago, I remember hearing a small snippet of a track from a band I would later find out was Amongst the Giants; just a few seconds in length really, but based solely on that, I already had high expectations of what was to come and was eager to hear more. Before I came to a place of faith in my life, I was really, REALLY into Marilyn Manson. Odd way to start this review? Maybe, but stick with me. When I finally did come to faith in Christ, I guess I really had little idea of the concept of Christian music and what it could sound like. Imagine my surprise then, to find a band like Skillet, who, at the time, bore a striking resemblance to Manson. Don’t believe me? Back in May, I was able to catch Memphis May Fire on a show they added to an off night on their tour with Sevendust. I was fortunate enough to have secured a VIP for that show, part of which included a pizza party and getting to listen to the new album well before it was even announced, much less released. While the pizza was good, the listening party aspect was pretty rough; not so much because the album wasn’t any good, but hearing it was a bit of a challenge with everyone hanging out and talking and everything else going on.… Continued →

P.O.D. has long been a favorite of mine, and likely the first Christian band I ever listened to. Their successes have made them a staple among hard rock fans in both Christian and secular markets, and despite a less popular album here or there, or even less interest in the hard rock genre in general, the band’s fanbase have continued to remain loyal to the band, a fact easily evidenced by the band’s live shows and the online response to all the latest news, especially where new music is concerned.… Continued →

This is a not only a monumental accomplishment but also reflects the longevity of a music project that has transcended music scenes and style shifts over the years. If you haven’t heard Gold, Frankincense, & Myrrh yet, you’re late to the party. GFM is a band of sisters from Jacksonville who’ve really made a nice mark on the Christian hard rock scene which the “Death of Giants” ep and “Identity Crisis” full length are clear cut evidence of. I’ve personally been pretty eager for some new material from the band, and yesterday I got my wish, as did all other GFM fans out there. Today the band has released it’s debut track, “My Demons” which can be heard below. P.O.D. is dropping a new album November 16, titled “Circles”. So far they’ve released “Rockin’ With the Best”, which was met with mixed reviews and just today they’ve dropped the title track to the album, “Circles”. It’s an interesting track that’s a fair variation from the sound we’ve come to know them for in times past, but we wanna know what YOU think. Big news from the Skillet camp today, as John Cooper announced his new band, Fight the Fury. John has said that this is the answer that fans who’ve been asking for harder and heavier music from the band and we may get a taste of it a little later on today. The band has also announced plans to play some dates in Russia later this year. The world  is full of grit, seriousness, and dark themes within media. Whenever something “fun” comes around, it’s a nice change of pace.  The Protest’s debut album on Rockfest records, Legacy, provides a Christ-centered, lighthearted yet heavy hitting album that’s perfect for some summertime head-banging. The southern rock intro and uplifting chorus of the opening track “Valor” kicks off the album in full force and doesn’t let up until the album ends.
