I’ve heard a pre-release, unmastered copy of the new Homeplate album and it GOES HARD! I wasn’t expecting this but I do love it and can’t wait till all our IVM friends stumble upon it. Even though this isn’t an IVM release, I can’t help but sing it’s many praises and send a little promotion their way. This is a more grown up Homeplate and a more heavy sounding album both from a production standpoint and their musicianship in general. It reminds me of “Chuck” era Sum 41 (and the latest album) meets Strung Out meets Four Year Strong meets old AFI with a little modern hardcore thrown in for good measure.… Continued →

Some would say that putting together a year-end list of your top 100 albums and EPs is insane. And I agree. It’s one of the most ambitious things I’ve attempted since I started writing for IVM. So how did I do it exactly? Well I started out by putting together a list of all the albums and EPs I listened to during 2020—a feat in its own right. (Rock/Hard Rock) Released 10/16/20 on Facedown Records. Influence was the band’s first release since the 2016 ep, Laid Low. The pop-punk duo known as “Homeplate” are returning after just a few months from the release of their incredible debut EP, “Derby City”, to record MORE NEW MUSIC. That’s right friends, the guys will reconvene in the studio soon to lay down some new tracks for another EP. If you enjoyed “Derby City” as much as I did, you’re in for a real treat. Homeplate dropped their debut ep “Derby City” last Friday and it seems to be garnering quite some interest. Check out another song off this Ep titled “I Need Grace” which is a lot more straight forward than other relationship type faith innuendo tracks. The Simple Plan meets old Hawk Nelson sound of this song and acoustic guitar strumming beginning is sure to make a fan out of any pop-punk follower of the early 00’s. I am proud to welcome the Derby City based pop-punk act – Homeplate, to the Indie Vision Music family of artists. I wasn’t planning on “signing” any bands in 2020 but this one just fell into my lap and I couldn’t resist. Their debut single “Broken Youth” will be out July 24th to all digital networks and streaming sites.
