REVIEW : Meadows - In Those Days & Also After
I first found Meadows in 2014 with their debut EP. Since that time, I lost pulse on the band – that is, until their signing with Facedown Records. Stylistically, the band follows an emotional hardcore style similar to Touché Amoré, Defeater, or older La Dispute. In some ways, they’re more reminiscent of older melodic hardcore acts like Life In Your Way. While Facedown Records has shifted a bit with the addition of more “rock” flavored acts in recent years Meadows feels like a perfect bridge between the old and the new, melding some of the artistic nuance of DENS with the straightforward aggression of Take It Back!… Continued →

Pennylane Concert Footage from 2006
I also found this old concert footage of the band Pennylane performing at Kauai Christian Fellowship in Poipu, Kauai in the great state of Hawaii. This is also a short segment and I believe my camera died which is why I didn’t film it all or something (memory is foggy). Anyway, check out this long lost fragment of Pennylane in a time long since past, and enjoy what you see. Sound is not good FYI and it was a small room with bass overflowing and drowning out the rest of sounds.… Continued →

The indie/shoegaze band has garnered much interest here in the states by way of Finland/Germany where the members reside. You can listen to the new song “Praise for the Bereft” below. “Incredible”, “Breathtaking”, “Inspiring” are not words to merely toss casually at artists in regards to igniting false hype around something a journalist may find especially appealing (or a record label deems “Important” for us as writers to check out).… Continued →

Allen Odell - Are You Okay? (New Song)
Allen Odell released a brand new song titled “Are You Okay?” back in January and it is a magical, beautifully dynamic yet simple, new song. I’m loving the vocals and soft guitar strumming from Allen. This song has some soft beats in the background adding layers to this already great sound. It’s like a mix of Matt Kearney, Jon Foreman, and David Bazan with a little Snow Patrol thrown in (vocally). This is a bright and uplifting track, perfect for those warm spring/summer days (still to come).… Continued →
