Through Kunaki and Vinyl Revolution a few titles have been given the green light for vinyl pressing. I am listing those titles below. Some are available to order now and more will be added soon. Click here to check out on Bandcamp. Please read below for further info.… Continued →

Celebrating the 16th Anniversary of Pennylane "From Paradise To Parking Lots"

16 years ago Indie Vision Music released a little known EP by a little known emo/indie rock band from Kauai, Hawaii known as “Pennylane”. So much has changed in the years since both professionally, musically, industry, and personally, that those years seem like such a blur. I just remember a friend passing this self released EP to me at one of my Chain Reaction shows that the band released on their own and loving every second of it. At the time IVM was releasing albums as part of it’s web presence and a year before the zine would launch (2005).… Continued →

Starflyer 59 Return With New Single via Velvet Blue Music

Starflyer 59 have hooked up with Velvet Blue Music again and will release a brand new single titled “This Recliner” on May 14th via the label. This one has that classic sound of their past efforts wrapped up in a warm, smooth package ready to be enjoyed by the masses. This sounds like the perfect continuation of “Young In My Head”, an album released last year on Tooth & Nail Records. I’m so happy to see Jason Martin continuing on with this project and releasing more new music.… Continued →

Keith Settles - Four Years (New Song)

Keith Settles is a name you may not instantly recognize but in terms of IVM past history, the name contains significant weight. Jess started out the IVM interview series on YouTube way back in mid 00’s and then when Keith Settles came aboard to help out, he created some of the finest video interviews we had up until that point. In fact, those are the last video interviews conducted by IVM (see YouTube page). Keith was frontman for a group out of So. Cal. called The Parousia and as of the last couple of years he has gone solo with some teeth clenching, honest tunes with an ep titled “Stories To Tell” set to drop on May 15th independently.… Continued →

Benjamin Daniel Drops Debut Indie Full Length

Benjamin Daniel (Ben Kunz) a friend and constant IVM supporter over the years has just dropped his debut full length titled “Shaping Season Vol. 1”. If you could imagine a collaboration of David Bazan, Sufjan Stevens, Manchester Orchestra, My Epic, Anathallo, and The Fray, you’ll get a hint as to the direction of these songs. This is beauty in it’s most purest form and a stripped down approach that takes the listener on a moody journey through the stories and music of Mr. Benjamin Daniel.… Continued →

Seeking "Cover Songs" by Christian Artists for New Playlist on Spotify

I am sending this post out there into the webiverse to gather songs for a new spotify playlist I just created. It is (tentatively) being called “The Best Christian Cover Songs” and is a play off Christians who cover popular (and not so popular) songs. Please list artist name covering a song and song title below this post in the comments section so I can take your suggestions and add them. What you see now on Spotify is just me recalling stuff off the top of my head.… Continued →

Introducing: Nömlonger

Nömlonger is the product of Matthew Hildebrandt, an indie electronic artist from Saskatoon, SK. Over the last couple of years he’s released the occasional track, but think on these things // okay, i will is the artist’s first proper release. The two tracks sample Bible readings of Philippians 4 and Psalm 16, creating an ambivalent environment of electronic-meets-acoustic sounds that evoke trusting God. think on these things // okay, i will is available now on digital retailers and streaming services. Sleeping At Last - Amazing Grace

Well friends, I am turning a corner (finally) and beginning to heal from a bad illness. I got hit hard with really bad pneumonia, and a sinus infection. I’ve been pretty much confined to my home for 8 days now because I was too ill to do much else. I hate being sick. Anyway, I found this song version of “Amazing Grace” by the much loved indie act – Sleeping At Last, to be a beautiful rendition that deserves much praise and adoration. I know this song has been covered a gazillion times but this classic got a simple, yet carefully composed arrangement centered around a soothing voice and his piano.… Continued →

DENS - They

DENS’ latest track, “They,” is accompanied by a music video. The song is taken from their forthcoming album, Taming Tongues, which will be available March 6 on Facedown Records. “They” is the result of reflecting on an ongoing pattern we have seen in our relationships and in the conversations that encircle us. Namely, there is often a fundamental breakdown in communication due to a lack of precision in language, a cloud of emotion that colors our reactions, and an unwillingness to empathize with other people.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Wolves At The Gate - Man of Sorrows

Keeping it more current because I’m known to wallow in 90’s and early 00’s nostalgia. It is time to step forward in time a little. Does 2012 count as more current? I mean it is only 8 years ago, right? Well Wolves At The Gate have been making quality music for more than a decade and have released 4 nearly perfect full length albums (+ several eps and a covers ep) in their careers with Solid State Records. The band has churned out one solid hit after another and yet go somewhat unnoticed by the mainstream crowd which is perfectly fine with me.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Further Seems Forever - For All We Know

This wasn’t the typical Further Seems Forever song of unbridled aggression, melodies intertwined into some sort of cosmic explosion of pure joy and instant approval by even your most jaded friend. This song was somewhat of a departure although still incorporating that classic “emo” sound they’d been pegged with for years. Something about this song evokes passion and unrelenting “worship”. Maybe it was intentional or possibly an unintentional after thought but this song leads one into contemplation and self-analyzing, directing you into a heaven’s gaze. Jon Bunch despite any shortcomings he may have had in the eyes of vicious teens and young adults who had blood thirsty claws out for the throat of this “new” vocalist, captured the attention of generations of different music fans despite genre.… Continued →
