Today’s new music introduction is in a slightly different direction than the standard heavy music fare IVM is well regarded for, but this artist is certainly deserving of exposure and interest. Today’s introduction is of the project “FYR FYTR” (Fire Fighter). Introspective and passionate indie rock with an almost post-hardcore like influence, that Faith connection and a strong emphasis on emotions. I ran across this band a few weeks ago through a sponsored ad and instantly fell in the love with the music. I’m slow with news so it took me a little while to write this post. Let’s take a moment and soak in the pure awesomeness of the band Hope Through Grace from the UK, laying down that hardcore and metal so perfectly. On this song “John 20” it features Miggy Sanchez of Relent fame. The band just released their brand new EP also titled “John 20”, a week ago through Southwest Hardcore and it’s a wildfire spreading bombastic, heavy hardcore influenced EP. Jyro Xhan of Mortal, Fold Zandura, and recently MorZan fame, just launched a new instagram account and name for all future (solo) material. The new project will be “JLV” and songs are on the way. It’s time for a new band introduction and today I bring you “Lo Cloud”. Lo Cloud is a new indie band featuring Matt Hammitt formerly of Sanctus Real. The band have dropped their debut single “Sleepwalker” and it is available now! They have a great sound with vocals that soar. Imagine Jimmy Eat World meets Anberlin meets Thirty Seconds to Mars meets Plankeye and Switchfoot. It’s a unique sound with somewhat of a 90’s rock undercurrent mixed in with all the modern sounds. I recently discovered this band through the fine folks at Small Step Records and I love the music. The ska-punk band is called Tom Nevers Field and they just dropped a new album “The Wisdom That Age Brings” last fall. I just recently found this pretty cool Synthwave project under the name of OM53. All the songs sound really good and extremely catchy. I was alerted to this band The Caballerials by a friend and must say that their brand of pop-punk is anything but boring. Fun emotionally charged pop-punk with a heavy 2000’s vibe that’ll please fans of Home Grown, FenixTX, Blink-182, Man Alive, Ace Troubleshooter, and even Olivia The Band. Like the Olivia The Band these guys also reside from the state of Hawaii and create some pretty meaningful yet entirely fun new music. Taking a minute here to introduce you all to a brand new group called Working Hour. They are duo that have a splashy pop-rock sound filled with 80’s pop sensibilities and modern rock touches. Similar in spirit to The 1975, The Band Camino, Twenty One Pilots, and The Neighbourhood with a little Tears For Fears and Simply Red thrown in for good measure. I stumbled across this band the other day and had to give their latest EP a listen. This Surrender are described as an Easycore band out of Brooklyn, NY. but I would add in worshipful lyrics and a message of hope built on love. As their bio says, they are inspired by the likes of Killswitch Engage, For Today, alongside Four Year Strong and A Day To Remember. For this special Saturday in July I thought I’d share another really great project with you this time from a group called “Generation Gone“. They are a melodic hardcore punk band out of Southern California featuring a heavy, hard hitting sound that is melodic at times and furious all the time. The music is loud but the production is above all the rest (makes sense since the famous producer Paul Miner has his hands on producing these tunes). I am going to take a moment and introduce you all to this incredible new pop-punk act known as Static Ultra. They absolutely kill it and their bright & poppy sound is full of heartwarming melodies and engaging sing-a-longs inspired by all those early to late 00’s emo/poppunk jams yet forging forward with a sound all their own. If you want a classic, nostalgic flow with energetic vocals and hard hitting guitar/bass/drums, then Static Ultra is for you. A new band I’d like to introduce is called Binder of Light. Its a new band featuring members of Stairwell, Bloodshed, Unashamed, Rainy Days, and more. The guys in this band contacted me to share their new music. At first I was a little hesitant probably due to the name itself but then I listened and was instantly blown away. Strange Her are an explosive indie rock band that would please fans of As Cities Burn, House of Heroes, Emery, The Classic Crime, Anberlin and maybe even a little Silversun Pickups and Funeral for a Friend. Another heavy band by the name of Oh, The Depth is being presented to all of you right now on a day I will dub “Metal Sunday”. Oh yeah, heavy stuff yet again. He recites these songs all day long and it got me looking more. This is quality hip-hop/rap from a star on the rise through CHH. This heavy as heck deathcore band, Cardiac Rupture, just dropped their new lyric video for “December Selection” which you can check out below. A new band by the name of Sweatpants out of the Bakersfield, CA. are have returned with a new single “Mold” that sheds light on their new musical direction. It’s very difficult to paint a description to similar artists since this young group seems to be paving their own way with a unique touch. I think fans of mewithoutYou, Superheaven, Citizen, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and The Raconteurs, would find something to appreciate in these guys.… Continued →

Jessieville, Arkansas is about the last place on earth I’d expect to discover a new artist. I’ve been there, the entire town is comprised of a high school, a post office, and a burger shack. Yet much to my surprise that’s exactly where the progressive rock band Census comes from. The group started out as metalcore releasing an EP and a handful of singles. But with guitarist Ben Carey taking over on vocals the band has taken on a slightly different sound.
