I’m incredibly late with this post and I apologize. European Metal kings by way of Finland – Ocean Dark, just dropped their album last month titled “Hope & Chaos”. It’s incredible stuff and brings to mind some of your favorite metal bands that the scene has produced but on an even grander scale. This mostly unknown band has begun making waves and there’s no stopping them. Please check out “Hope & Chaos” by Ocean Dark on your favorite digital network. TAKE Release Brand New Album "Power Trip"

The band TAKE, from Las Vegas, Nevada are back with a brand new album titled “Power Trip”. The album is a trip down a familiar path while retaining the heaviness and originality the band has become known for. This isn’t the typical, this isn’t mundane and this certainly is not boring. It’s a heavy album but not consisting of that same cookie cutter style everyone is going for. Brings to mind bands like The Warriors, Pantera, Living Sacrifice, Every Time I Die, and really closing the divide between all the diverse sounds of heavy bands you know and love.… Continued →

Phinehas Provide a Little Metal Relief From Reality

Getting your mind off world events, Covid and all variant insanity, the heat of summer, well then might I suggest some guitar heavy music from Phinehas to drown out the noise? Phinehas, a band I’ve been a fan of since right before they joined their first record label like 15 years ago, are back in an absolutely incredible manner. Their brand of metal(core) has been missed and this new song “In The Night” is certainly no exception to their greatness. The band’s new album “The Fire Itself” is out August 27th on Solid State Records and you can pre-order here.… Continued →

The Blamed Re-Recording Landmark Debut Record, "21"

Legendary masters of punk-thrash-metal – The Blamed, are going to re-record their landmark, classic album from 1994 called “21”. This debut was really great back when I first heard it and reminded me why I love/loved punk rock. It was like a garage-y, underground sounding album that evoked immediate love for the live experience and sweat drenched, basement worthy punk shows. Even though many of us didn’t venture into that scene as much as others, just hearing a record like this brought to mind what it must have been like.… Continued →

Meadows Sign With Facedown Records

Meadows, a band I’ve written about a bit in the past as well as other writers here, will be coming out with brand new music. They have signed a deal with Facedown Records and have dropped their new single “The Depths”. I encourage you to go check out both of their last 2 releases and give them a listen. It’s great ambient, post-metal/post-hardcore stuff similar in scope to Hands, Between the Buried and Me, Thrice, A Hope for Home, Life In Your Way, Underoath, Architects, etc.… Continued →

HolyName Could Be The Biggest and Most Important Music Act of Our Time

What seemingly began as a solo project of sorts for Tommy Green of Sleeping Giant, HolyName is likely to become one of our music scene’s most important and dare I say, “influential”, acts in a long time. The music hits you in all the right spots, digging deep into the most hardened of hearts. The emotions swelling up between heavy, chugging guitars, thundering drum beats, and soft, soothing vocals building into this sort of adrenaline fueled, aggressive, and violent (sounding) worship music that you’ll never hear at a Church on Sunday morning.… Continued →

Introducing: Archetypes Collide (Video In Post)

WOW!!!! I guess it was sometime last year or maybe the year before I first came across these guys. When I did, the first material I heard of theirs was really heavy hitting stuff, really good, really promising. Then, at some point things seemed to get far more melodic and tame. At the end of 2020 however, the band released a new track called “Your Misery” (see the video below). This track took everything I’d heard from them to this point and blended it PERFECTLY. “Your Misery” has its melodic feel to it, but it also punches you right in the face with how heavy it can get.… Continued →

Exclusive Premiere: Brotality - Biohazard

We are excited to bring you the brand new music video from heavy (metal) band, Brotality. This song is heavy, it shreds, and is full of head banging fun. The band mixes up sub genres of METAL while remaining true to themselves and composing a sound all their own. It is an impressive accomplishment especially considering the collective ages of each band member. This band should be commended for their skill and for rising to the top despite their young age which might be a hinderance to other bands of this caliber.… Continued →
