Song of the Day: Beloved (US) - Like a Song (U2 Cover)
Beloved (US) released this absolutely flawless cover of U2’s classic song, “Like a Song”, last month. It is without a doubt, one of my favorite cover songs by an artist we write about and quite simply one of the best songs of 2020. To be honest, I wasn’t as familiar with this U2 song as much as their other more famous tracks but nonetheless the band put their own unique spin on it and blew it out of the water. It’s not only lyrically poignant but the sound quality of this one song is on par with anything a major label artist would release in 2020.… Continued →

Then It Ends Drop New Song/Video, "Reality"
New Metalcore band, Then It Ends (feat. members of A Past Unknown and Dividing the Masses) have released a new song and a video to go with it for the song “Reality”. Much more melodic than the recently released single, “Depravity”, “Reality” contains great lyrics and heavy moments that contrast the laid back feel heard for most of the track in perfect proportion. “Reality” makes for a great listen for fans of a variety of tastes in music. Check out the video below and let us know if you agree.… Continued →

Fireflight are back with a powerful new 10 song album via Rockfest Records. You can actually stream the entire album via YouTube right here. Listen below. The album is out October 23rd via Rockfest Records. The sound and production on this new album is near flawless. Powerful, deep, bass driven rock songs with Dawn’s hard hitting, intense and gripping vocals front and center. It’s like the perfect combo of rock sounds reminiscent of Anberlin, Evanescence, Flyleaf, Spoken, and Ledger, all at their best moments. Project 86 Re-Release "Self Titled" 1998 Album
Andrew Schwab and Project 86 have just made their debut 1998 “Self Titled” album available once again for streaming/digital purchase. The album has been offline for a number of years probably due to some offense with the song “Independence?”. This album put the Orange County, CA. band on the map in 1998 and by the time of “Drawing Black Lines” in 2000, this band’s mark was clearly felt. I was lucky enough to witness the band’s first few shows back when Ethan Luck was in the band and they had a very heavy, aggressive, RATM influence.… Continued →

Beloved (US) are not taking a back seat to this whole 2020 fiasco of a year. They have recorded a cover of a U2 song and I assume will release it any day now. Watch the teaser clip below. This band hasn’t lost one ounce of energy since their long hiatus and the energy is even more ferocious and on fire than it was in the past. Demon Hunter Drop New Cover Songs of Face To Face and LIVE
According to the Demon Hunter facebook page, they have dropped two new cover songs but are only available through their Blessed Resistance Club. I am not a member so I can’t vouch for how these sound but if their prior music is any indication, these 2 covers are going to melt my face off, literally (and no pun intended). Demon Hunter cover the classic Face to Face punk rock anthem, “Disconnected”, as well as the hit 90’s alt rock song “Lightning Crashes” from the now classic 1994 rock album “Throwing Copper” by one of my favorite bands, LIVE.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Extol - Reflections of a Broken Soul
When Extol’s first album came out in 1998, the Christian hard music scene had been dominated by hardcore and the then-developing metalcore sound. This was being spearheaded prominently by labels like Solid State Records (a division of Tooth & Nail), and Facedown Records. Enter Norway’s Extol. No one quite knew what to do with them. Sure, there was still an active underground metal scene, but Solid State had not signed any heavy metal bands yet–only hardcore bands that dabbled in metal. But Burialwas a full-on heavy metal cacophony, bridging subgenres–progressive, black, thrash and death metal–often within one song.… Continued →

Seeking "Cover Songs" by Christian Artists for New Playlist on Spotify
I am sending this post out there into the webiverse to gather songs for a new spotify playlist I just created. It is (tentatively) being called “The Best Christian Cover Songs” and is a play off Christians who cover popular (and not so popular) songs. Please list artist name covering a song and song title below this post in the comments section so I can take your suggestions and add them. What you see now on Spotify is just me recalling stuff off the top of my head.… Continued →
