Long running Christian Music website, JesusFreakHideout.com, just dropped Volume 9 of their “Songs We’ve Been Trying to Tell You About (and Others We Haven’t)” compilation series right here. Go download it and give these great indie artists a listen. Thanks to John, Scott, and the rest of the JFH gang for giving my artists a platform. I hope you all enjoy it. John DiBiase is also a talented artist and some of his drawings take up residence in my home. Make sure to see all his art pieces on Etsy here.… Continued →

Demon Hunter Drop New Cover Songs of Face To Face and LIVE

According to the Demon Hunter facebook page, they have dropped two new cover songs but are only available through their Blessed Resistance Club. I am not a member so I can’t vouch for how these sound but if their prior music is any indication, these 2 covers are going to melt my face off, literally (and no pun intended). Demon Hunter cover the classic Face to Face punk rock anthem, “Disconnected”, as well as the hit 90’s alt rock song “Lightning Crashes” from the now classic 1994 rock album “Throwing Copper” by one of my favorite bands, LIVE.… Continued →

TIMŌRĀTUS Slam You With Mediocre Metal

TIMŌRĀTUS have gone in a new direction. Taking their unique metal sound, adding in a heavy dose of sarcasm and FUN, then hitting you over the head with a heavy dose of mediocre rock n’ roll. Why do I keep saying that? Well their new comedic metal album is titled, “My Life in a Mediocre Metal Band” and hits the streets on July 29th. You can preorder this great collection of METAL songs right here. It’s like hearing Extol join forces with The Locust, Devil Wears Prada, Faith No More, Bloody Sunday, and Weird Al all on one album.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Extol - Reflections of a Broken Soul

When Extol’s first album came out in 1998, the Christian hard music scene had been dominated by hardcore and the then-developing metalcore sound. This was being spearheaded prominently by labels like Solid State Records (a division of Tooth & Nail), and Facedown Records. Enter Norway’s Extol. No one quite knew what to do with them. Sure, there was still an active underground metal scene, but Solid State had not signed any heavy metal bands yet–only hardcore bands that dabbled in metal. But Burialwas a full-on heavy metal cacophony, bridging subgenres–progressive, black, thrash and death metal–often within one song.… Continued →

Seeking "Cover Songs" by Christian Artists for New Playlist on Spotify

I am sending this post out there into the webiverse to gather songs for a new spotify playlist I just created. It is (tentatively) being called “The Best Christian Cover Songs” and is a play off Christians who cover popular (and not so popular) songs. Please list artist name covering a song and song title below this post in the comments section so I can take your suggestions and add them. What you see now on Spotify is just me recalling stuff off the top of my head.… Continued →

Messengers Emerge From a Long Slumber to Knock Us All to the Floor With Their Thundering Metal Assault

How do you like that headline? Was it over the top? Well when you have a powerful band with a heavy presence like this band – MESSENGERS (Texas), you can’t help but feel floored. This band released an EP called “Anthems” 10 years ago on the Facedown Records imprint, Strike First Records and it blew a lot of people away. Part thrash, part metal, part rock n roll, and pure heaviness. The band has emerged from their slumber after releasing their last Ep in 2013, to sort of announce a return?… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Showdown - We Die Young

HEAVY METAL, Dudes! Despite popular opinions and clearly showing my lack of “scene cred”, I instantly connected with The Showdown “Temptation Come My Way” album back in 2007/2008 and haven’t changed my opinion since. David’s grit-filled voice is front and center just the way a good heavy metal band should be on the song, “We Die Young”. Well produced and placed instrumentation, with soaring vocal harmonies that really take this album completely over the top. It’s like that perfect combo of 80’s hard rock meets metal and 90’s era Metallica (Black album), solos and everything.… Continued →

D-Gibby Kicks Off "Soulful Sundays"

Do you like to sometimes sit back and throw on some reaction videos on YouTube, seeing how others enjoy (or sometimes don’t) some of the same music you listen to? A favorite of mine that I check out often, is D-Gibby. He has some really great reactions to music I enjoy listening to, both Christian and secular alike. Recently, D-Gibby has begun to do something he’s calling “Soulful Sundays”, which feature reactions to Christian bands and artists. This past week he covered Skillet, P.O.D., and RED.… Continued →
