REVIEW : Advent - Pain & Suffering

2016 was the year for comebacks. There was bands like Destroy the Runner, Hopesfall, and Advent. Advent has brought their A-game with their comeback. And they bring the pain with their new EP, Pain and Suffering. You could call it a “Revival”. “Wind from the Valley” is the first track of the EP. The bass is thick, the guitars bring in the metal, while the drums are very hardcore style. Joe Musten’s vocals are some of the most violent vocals ever. “Wind from the Valley” sounds like a slower version of the band Nails.… Continued →

Heliocentric releases "Moonshine"

A great independent Ambient metalcore act known as Heliocentric has released their debut song, titled “Moonshine”. The song is musically amazing and brings me to think of bands like What We Do in Secret and Wage War. The uncleans are very hardcore style, while the cleans seem like a power metal vocalist. The band is a one man project run by Jared Smith. This song is great, check it out below and go follow Heliocentric, or go buy it at Bandcamp! Continued →

REVIEW : Final Surrender - Nothing But Void

How common is metal in Asia? Does anyone know? The genre of metal is a rare one to say the least, especially over in Asia. Final Surrender is one of the pioneers of the genre there. The Progressive metalcore act has been working hard on this album. Their debut album, Empty Graves, was released 4 years ago. The album begins with the single “Nothing But Void”. The track brings elements of techno music, Progressive metalcore, and thrash metal. There is plenty of work going on with the drums and percussion.… Continued →

The Best of 2016: Rob Jensen

In 2016, I saw my tastes in music grow a bit more. This would account for why you’ll see some albums make an appearance on this list that, if you know me, you wouldn’t normally expect to see here. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good year for music, but a number of times some of the albums I was most excited about lost something after numerous listen throughs. This could account for why some albums (if you know me) you’d expect to see on my list are noticeably absent.… Continued →
