I stumbled across this band the other day and had to give their latest EP a listen. This Surrender are described as an Easycore band out of Brooklyn, NY. but I would add in worshipful lyrics and a message of hope built on love. As their bio says, they are inspired by the likes of Killswitch Engage, For Today, alongside Four Year Strong and A Day To Remember. Imagine that mashup and you get kind of the idea of just what music you’ll discover upon listening.… Continued →

Introducing: Static Ultra
I am going to take a moment and introduce you all to this incredible new pop-punk act known as Static Ultra. They absolutely kill it and their bright & poppy sound is full of heartwarming melodies and engaging sing-a-longs inspired by all those early to late 00’s emo/poppunk jams yet forging forward with a sound all their own. If you want a classic, nostalgic flow with energetic vocals and hard hitting guitar/bass/drums, then Static Ultra is for you. Make this summer one to remember by checking out their few months old track “Hold On To Me” and next week’s new song “Out of My Head”.… Continued →

Anberlin "Convinced" EP, Out Now!
Anberlin have just released their brand new 5 song EP titled “Convinced” and it’s available worldwide today. Thoughts on this new outing from scene faves, Anberlin? I kinda wished they named this EP “Conversate” because it would remind me of my favorite Anberlin album, “Cities”, and just sounds fun. The last ep and this one together make a really diverse set of songs with a sound much more mature and modern in nature. Do I like it personally? Well, I don’t know the answer to that all important question quite yet as I’ve only listened once through.… Continued →

Light The Way just dropped their brand new song titled “Life Makes No Sense” and it is now available on ALL digital networks and streaming sites. Names Without Numbers "Winter Wars" Out Now!
The absolutely stunning new single from my friends in Names Without Numbers titled “Winter Wars”, is out now on all digital networks and also streaming in the Pop Punk Dads Spotify playlist. This song reminds the listener of all the great times you had in the past with nostalgia running rampant throughout the entirety but not so overbearing that it’d distract one from drawing modern parallels to what’s so great about new music. I really dig the fast pace of the song right from the get-go.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Olivia the Band - 39
This pop punk band made waves back in the mid 2000s. This SOTD has always been my fave per its catchy music & lyrics. Check em out.
Every time it came He took the pain,
He took away,
And in our place He stands,
Everyday, all day,
He lived to die,
He died to pay,
And in our place He stands,
Forty minus one,
Sin caused undone,
Black eye and spit,
Innocence they hit,

REVIEW : Craig's Brother - Easily Won, Rarely Deserved
I’ve been sitting on this review since last November and since I tend to move slower these days with my writing contributions, it’s better later than never. Let me start off by saying that Craig’s Brother have been a favorite of mine since I first heard “Homecoming” all those years ago (25!). Their blend of melody, aggression, and thought provoking lyrics set them apart from the rest of the pack. I once had a label spinoff of Indie Vision Music and in 2019 I put out their “Devils in the Details” EP, one of the best accomplishments in all my years of running IVM.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Safe Haven - Chasing The Sun
These 3 brothers & a friend band from California burst onto the scene in 2003. I had seen them on compilations, but when this SOTD came out, I immediately thought this is very catchy. It later appeared on one of the God’s Not Dead movies. Check out the album review on this site that posted September 14, 2012.

Indie Vision Music x Tooth and Nail Records - I'm Your Biggest Fan 2 (21 Years Ago)
A word document popped up in my Dropbox while I was searching for old files. It showed that the tentative line up for the “I’m Your Biggest Fan 2” compilation that I assembled for Tooth & Nail Records on March 11th 2002, 21 years ago. A couple bands had to be swapped for a couple reasons but the final lineup is pretty close to what I had planned out. I have created a little collage video with a couple song samples from the compilation through YouTube which you can view below.… Continued →

Letter Kills Creates Quite the Buzz
Letter Kills which were a emo-indie-pop-punk band from the early 00’s that dropped some independent songs, signed to Island Records, released a huge sounding record called “The Bridge”, played around the country for a few years then just disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Lead Vocalist Matt Shelton went on to record with The Wedding as well some great solo songs and recently formed “Panther City Riots“. As a band they were strong and their delivery was just as good as ANY other band at that time.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Temper Tantrums - Acapulco
This pop punk band only released 2 full lengths, but obviously caught the punk scene by surprise as they were an all girl band on their first LP. They added a guy for their 2nd. This song reminds me of ska band Bob’s (Bunch of Believers) Mission Trip to Mexico for obvious reasons as tunes referencing mission trips.

Song of the Day: Noggin Toboggan - My Own Few Words
NT was a band from Cali who released 3 LPs of energetic pop punk tunes circa the late 90s. Appears the bass player went on & played w/ Eager Seas & Lakes that I’ve seen around. Their drummer was also in Upperhand. This jam is my fave.

Do I Smell a Ghoti Hook Reunion?
There are rumblings in the Ghoti Hook camp that could spell something new from the band which would be their first “official” reunion of the band members since 2002. A rather cryptic post dropped on their Facebook page here a couple days ago which has left people guessing. Check out the post and picture below to see if you can figure it out. No, I do not have any insider info on this one so I am right in line with the rest of you.

Next In Line to Possibly Reunite?
Nothing like a good news story to sorta, kinda, maybe drop a hint that a former Indie Vision Music band “might” get back together and “might” celebrate 20 years of “Traffic” next year. There has to be some interest out there so let your voices be heard loud and clear. Do you want to see ALL of their pre-Indie Vision Music, 2003 Indie Vision Music, post-Indie Vision Music, and all the fun unreleased stuff in between, finally get posted up on digital networks? There have been a lot of songs here and there that dropped on the Indie Vision Music website over the years dating back 2005 when the store/label morphed into a webzine.… Continued →
