Farewell to The O.C. Supertones

The show this past Saturday night was an incredible experience. It was bittersweet in the fact that they put on a fantastic, entertaining, and emotional show while at the same time effectively ending their more than two decade career as a band. So many memories are rolled up into this band for me and I’ll be forever thankful for the music & ministry of this mighty Ska band. I wrote a deeply personal account of my experience and love for this band on the IVM Instagram page.… Continued →

Punk Never Dies - No Really, It Doesn't

Punk Never Dies, no really it doesn’t. We are led to believe that the flavor of the month is heavy metalcore/djent/hardcore/etc. and we know every little “Christian” label is pushing that stuff. I do love a lot of those bands but my passion has always been on the punk rock side of things. I never understand why the punk purists were so slow to embrace the poppier side and how come no independent (or major) labels have signed bands like this in the past decade.… Continued →

Brave New World

INTERVIEW : Interview with Parker Boles of Brave New World

Indie Vision Music: Tell me a bit about your music. What’s it called, what style is it, when you’ll be releasing some material? It’s pretty broad but should get the conversation going. Parker Boles: My music is a blend of post-hardcore, emo, and pop-punk, mixed in with some blues. The first material I’ll be releasing will be mostly covers, and the album that I am working on is 11 covers and one original, titled “Horizon To Horizon”. IVM: That definitely sounds like something I would enjoy.… Continued →

New 3 Song Acoustic Ep From Jimmy Sisco (Absolved / Platoon 1107)

Today is the release of Jimmy Sisco’s contribution to the 3 Song Acoustic EP series. As the singer/guitarist/songwriter for ABSOLVED and Platoon 1107, Jimmy has released some of the biggest, most aggressive music on Thumper Punk Records. For his 3 Song Acoustic EP, the music is delicate, balanced and soulful, with one track of 70s era folk and two readings of Old Testament scripture over ambient backgrounds. The first song “Son of the Wind” was written by country-western artist Jim Sisco, Sr., in 1970, and recorded by his son Jimmy in the days prior to his father’s death from cancer.… Continued →

Counselor - Well-Wisher

Throwback Review 6: Well-Wisher - Counselor

It’s that time of the week – Throwback Thursday! Today’s band showed a lot of promise but personal differences, growing up, and moving apart ultimately was the band’s demise. Well-Wisher stands as a great nod to what could have been. History Counselor was a melodic hardcore band with pop-punk and indie elements based out of Muskegon, MI. that released music during 2012 and 2013. A few singles preceded Well-Wisher and a fully EP followed. However, the latter suffers from incredibly poor production and mixing that sadly ruins the listening experience.… Continued →
