Mae's "Destination: Beautiful" 15 years later

Today marks 15 years since the release of Mae’s debut album, “Destination: Beautiful”. I personally didn’t find out about these guys until a little after “The Everglow” came out, but after I checked out “Destination: Beautiful” I couldn’t figure out which album I liked more; probably still don’t know, to be honest. What are some of your favorite tracks and memories from this album? 15 years…man, time really flies.… Continued →

FREE Live PAX217 album

PAX217 was a favorite of mine years ago. Last year, they played with The O.C. Supertones at their last show and had it recorded for a live album. Today, PAX217 has been kind enough to make this album available FREE! However, if you were to pay certain amounts, you can get some bonus goodies, such as an unreleased demo track called “Weightless”, photos, and even the video from the show. Make sure you guys jump on this, it’s sure to be great. See the bands Facebook post below.… Continued →

REVIEW : Young Poet - Thrive in a Modern Era

Punk rock and pizza are similar in more ways than one. While the two can complement each other quite well, music – like food – requires a recipe. Unfortunately, Young Poet’s Thrive in a Modern Era tastes more like a dubious experiment than a well-made pizza pie. Opening song “Alizaren,” catches me completely by surprise with the spoken word akin to Being As An Ocean or Listener. I thought this was pop punk? Once “Better Hearts” comes on, I find out that it is … at least, for the most part, in retrospect.… Continued →

REVIEW : Samecity - "Lowlands"

Nashville, TN is known for a number of things, but the thing that tops the list is music. If you were to walk down Broadway, each restaurant and bar you pass has live music going on, all of it diverse. It’s on street corners as buskers play their hearts out for little more than the love of the music and the heart to share it with others. One band that stands out in the middle of all of this is Samecity. Samecity is a pop rock outfit that formed in 2014 and draw influences from a variety of sources, some of which include Needtobreathe, Switchfoot, and The Civil Wars.… Continued →

REVIEW : Introducing Off Road Minivan, Plus EP review, PLUS Music Video

Tooth and Nail recently announced the signing of a band called Off Road Minivan. Now, I’m going to be brutally honest here, and it may just be a matter of opinion, but these days I really haven’t found much coming out of Tooth & Nail that I like. In this case however, I decided to take the chance and give these guys a shot and was very glad I did. Off Road Minivan are a band out of Red Hook, NY with a lineup that includes Fit For A King bassist, Ryan O’Leary.… Continued →

Squad 5-0 Begin Working on New Comeback Album, Say What?

With all these new reunions fresh in our minds and the rivers of nostalgia running deep, it was only time before the mighty Squad 5-0 came back and dropped a new album on us. According to the band’s official Instagram page (sorry I’m not aware of any Facebook pages that are current), they may be working on a new album and teased with like 1 second guitar clip. Whether or not this is true remains a mystery much like the band themselves. Let’s hope for one more rockin’ ruckus of a new album.… Continued →

The Prayer Chain Announce Vinyl Release of "Shawl" and Live Show

Beloved Southern California 90’s alt-rock band, The Prayer Chain, have just announced a new campaign to fund the vinyl pressing of their much loved debut full length “Shawl”. The band crossed all barriers and industry confines to write songs that conveyed emotions which the general “Christian” market just wasn’t prepared to deal with at the time. Their music transcends all labels and tags that may be associated with the band to truly be recognized as the powerhouse rock act that they were. This and “Mercury” were the band at their finest.… Continued →

Best of 2017: Rob Jensen

2017 was a pretty decent year for music! Between finding newer bands, the resurgence of others from years of inaction, and great albums from bands we’ve come to love and depend on for great music, it was pretty tough to be disappointed. Below, are the 20 albums that I consider to be the year’s best. If there are bands there you haven’t heard of, I hope you check them out, you never know…maybe one of them would’ve made your top spot. And please, drop a line in the comments and let me know your thoughts!… Continued →

The Best of 2017: Noah Hardwick

1. Colony House “Only The Lonely” Only The Lonely really struck a cord with my personally. Every song on this album revolves around our need for each other–a message I sorely need to hear. Thankfully, this record rocks and got spun a lot in 2017. 2. Knox Hamilton “The Heights” Named after a neighborhood in Little Rock, Arkansas, The Heights is most most played album of 2017. Maybe I’m a little bias because Knox Hamilton is from my hometown. Or maybe the album is just that good.… Continued →
68 - Two Parts Viper

Best of 2017: Casey Gallenberger

Here is my “deluxe” review list for 2017 – 20 great albums paired with 17 EPs you shouldn’t overlook. This year, we saw strong releases from veteran acts and new groups alike, and they certainly weren’t confined to one genre. Hopefully you can find a new artist through the list below – and please let me know your opinions in the comments! *Denotes IVM Artist Albums 1.*’68 – Two Parts Viper This abrasive return to form by one of our generation’s most iconic rock duos manages to top their previous release, with a succulent mix of rock, grunge, hardcore, funk, and plenty of passion.… Continued →

Switchfoot Announce Hiatus

The men in Switchfoot have announced their hiatus in 2018. They’ve been a band for 20 years which is quite an accomplishment. The fact that these core guys could stick together this long and put out a consistent set of cherished songs for 2 decades is admirable. I wish them the best and thanks for all the years of entertaining, uplifting and well loved songs. We were meant to live for so much more, indeed.… Continued →
