This song will appear on the band’s upcoming 4th full length release. Watching the band from a personal perspective last night at the So Cal Harvest Crusade was simply mesmerizing. They may fall into that “CCM” category by writers, journalists, and hipster music aficionados but make no mistake, these gentlemen are an entertaining and talented bunch. The annual Harvest (Crusade) event is back and is a one day event taking place October 3rd at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim here in sunny Southern California. Skillet, have just released their brand new song titled “Surviving The Game” and there is a music video to accompany the track (check it out below). This song continues in that same current Skillet sound tradition and their sound is complimented by high end production as well as musicianship. I really think Jen’s background vocals give this track an extra layer of oomf that further compliments their already classic, rock sound. Punk Meets Metal Band, Living Fire, just dropped a brand new ep titled “Mercy Between Love & Hate” and it is quite a diverse set of songs. San Diego-based rock band Robert Vaughn & the Shadows released their classic album Love & War in 1987. As fate would have it, it was the final release on Exit Records (home of Seventy Sevens, Vector and Charlie Peacock), and its partnership with Island Records. Due to the unfortunate demise of the label, the album never saw a CD release (only LP and cassette). While the master tapes were tied up in red tape for decades, Randy Layton of Alternative Records recently worked out a deal to obtain the original masters.… Continued →

I first found Meadows in 2014 with their debut EP. Since that time, I lost pulse on the band – that is, until their signing with Facedown Records. Stylistically, the band follows an emotional hardcore style similar to Touché Amoré, Defeater, or older La Dispute. In some ways, they’re more reminiscent of older melodic hardcore acts like Life In Your Way. Most covers are just quickly mashed together, lacking any real emphasis on originality, pulling an existing song out of it’s sameness and reigniting it to a whole new level. Well my friends, Lightworker have taken the old song “Crawling in the Dark” from 00’s rockers – Hoobastank, and given it a whole new life. Legendary masters of punk-thrash-metal – The Blamed, are going to re-record their landmark, classic album from 1994 called “21”. This debut was really great back when I first heard it and reminded me why I love/loved punk rock. It was like a garage-y, underground sounding album that evoked immediate love for the live experience and sweat drenched, basement worthy punk shows.
