Everything Is Gonna Be Alright, Be Strong, Believe: 20 Hits From 20 Years Ago

*This is an update to an article that originally appeared on Indie Vision Music back in 2018 for the 15th Anniversaries of the albums below. Some wording and arrangements may have been altered. I hope you enjoy this article as much as I enjoy these albums. Happy 20th to all these and many more that may have been accidentally left off the list (my memory is fuzzy). 15 20 years ago, a collection of what can now be determined as “Classic Hits” were unleashed on a crowd that had an insatiable appetite for what was new and considered “ROCK” music.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - New Song "Florida" Coming Soon

Names Without Numbers are back in a big way on January 13th. Their new song “Florida” will drop on that date and we have a little teaser to offer all of you. This is without a doubt the band’s strongest song to date and further reminds me of just how good they are, not just in regards to indie music but rock n roll as a whole. There is a lot of content floating around out there passing off as legitimate music but really lacks the meat and substance.… Continued →

Thrice Announce 15th Anniversary Tour for Landmark Album, Vheissu

Thrice have just announced plans for a 15th anniversary tour in honor of their landmark album, “Vheissu”. Vheissu originally released in 2005 via Island Records that was met with a heavy dose of critical acclaim and a bit of negativity from the rabid early years fan base. For me it was a beautiful, musically rich and engaging, endearing album that has stood the test of time. I still remember hearing the song or two on a Burnout game and being so psyched for the band. Regardless of what you think of their 3 prior full lengths up until 2005, this album really set the pace for what was to come.… Continued →

The Best of 2008: 10 Years, A Look Back

10 years ago seems like it has passed within an instant. Some of these albums listed below are forgotten hits and some are still being played today. This list are my recommendations and mine alone. Feel free to disagree with my selections. Check out some of these now “classic” albums from the year 2008, below. The Best of 2008: 10 Years, A Look Back. Brave Saint Saturn as #1?… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - The Apathy Anthem

In case you missed it last month, I had Drew from Rival Consultants create a lyric video for the new Names Without Numbers song “The Apathy Anthem”. It came out pretty cool I think and if you give it a chance, I am sure you’ll enjoy it too. Names Without Numbers are an alt-emo-rock band from Nebraska who recently reunited after an almost decade long absence. Their music would please fans of Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin, The Classic Crime, Taking Back Sunday, House Of Heroes, Acceptance, and Thrice.… Continued →

Thrice to Tour This Fall and New Music in 2018

Thrice did an interview back in July with OC Weekly about the recent reunion, the tour they’d been on, and new music they are working on. According to the article, the band have been writing new songs on this most recent outing with Rise Against and Deftones. They hope to put out this new new album in summer 2018 which will be the first proper follow up to last year’s incredible record, “To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere”. Catch the band on tour this fall with Circa Survive, Balance and Composure, and Chon.… Continued →

The Best of 2007: Favorite Hits From 10 Years Ago

Hey friends it’s that time again, time for another “list”. Feel free to offer up your big Laugh-Out-Louds and smirks for some “hits” I found appealing 10 years ago. A lot of stuff from that year was enjoyed by me, some I am rediscovering, and others were missed opportunities. Check out my “list” below and feel free to listen to the playlist I created on Spotify for this list found in the article. Remember kids, “some” of these releases may not have the best language so if you get queasy at the thought of dirty words from general market (do we still use the word ‘secular’?)… Continued →

Thrice - Red Sky

On this slow Sunday I figured I’d do a little video flashback from the band Thrice. This song “Red Sky” appeared on the band’s 2005 full length effort, “Vehissu“. Following up the chart topping, fan favorite “The Artist in the Ambulance” seemed like a troublesome task but take a skilled band like Thrice and the end result further proved that the band’s prior success was definitely no “fluke”. This was and still is a band that is here to stay.… Continued →

REVIEW : Thrice - To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere

Ladies and gentlemen, Thrice is back. Despite their hiatus announcement in 2012, they were adamant they would return. Now after a string of festival dates in 2015, we can behold Thriceā€™s ninth studio album, To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere. Itā€™s been five years since their last studio effort, and some might have worried it would take some time to shake off the rust. Thatā€™s simply not the case. Not only is Thrice back, but theyā€™re better than ever. Thrice belongs to an elite category of bands that have had the same members devoted for the groupā€™s entire existence.… Continued →

Stephen Cobbuci

INTERVIEW : Stephen Cobucci of Wolves At The Gate

Recently, I got the chance to chat via email with Stephen Cobucci of the stand-out metalcore act, Wolves at the Gate. We got to talk songwriting, faith, and Thrice – 3 of my favorite topics. Check out the conversation below and don’t forget to pick up WatG’s newest album, “Reprise” wherever digital music is sold. Whatā€™s the typical writing process for Wolves at the Gate? Was it the same for ā€œRepriseā€ as for a full fledged album? Stephen Cobucci: Typically our songs begin when I present a song idea to the band and then it goes through a sort of filtration process by each member in their own way.… Continued →
