Song of the Day: Metanoia - Dimensions of Life

Australian band Metanoia (not to be confused with the punk band from Chile) was active from about 1994 to 1999. In that short span of time, they made quite an impact on the Christian metal scene. They played traditional death metal, but as has been pointed out by Scott Waters at nolifetilmetal.com, they also infused melodic and groovy parts from time to time, especially on their earlier material. Song of the Day: Skymetal - Apocalipse

In the decade of the 2000s, there was an explosion of Christian metal bands in Brazil. For quite a while, it looked like that country, and the whole of South America, was set to completely take over Christian metal. And there were quality bands in all subgenres too from melodic metal to the extreme styles of thrash, black, and death metal. Song of the Day: Crimson Thorn - Thy Neighbor

Lovers of traditional, old school death metal will know there is a significant lack of it coming from bands with a Christian worldview. The reasons for this are complex, and we won’t get into them here, except to say that it probably has something to do with the lyrical themes that often accompany their secular counterparts: death, gore, and the occult all being regular topics. Minnesota’s Crimson Thorn have often led the way in Christ-centered brutal death metal.
