The band already has a spot at Furnace Fest next month so the future looks plenty bright for more heavy metal action from this legendary band. The band last released their self titled “Extol” album 10 years ago. Who is excited for new Extol?… Continued →

Song of the Day: Geistkrieg-Peculiar Compulsion
Jeff Hansen is the man behind one man “unblack” metal band Geistkrieg. It’s German name translates to something like spiritual war. He also worked on P!g3on. Anyways, this song sounds so cool & you can read the lyrics on his Bandcamp page here.

Song of the Day: Antivenom - Sacred Funeral
There is an absolute plethora of underground black metal bands in the Christian scene. While this is a fact to be celebrated, at times it is difficult to judge the quality of releases, when there are so many. Antivenom actually managed to escape my attention until recently.
This band, like many in the scene, is fairly mysterious. I don’t know where they are from, although one member (whose name will be recognized by Christian bm aficionados) is Armath Sargon (Armath Sargon, Elgibbor, Katumus, Light to Dead, others), who is from Finland.… Continued →

Goatscorge drops new single!
Bestial black metal/war metal band Goatscorge has just dropped a new single in advance of their forthcoming EP. The raw sound should appeal to fans of Lucifer Impaled, Elgibbor, and Shekinah.
The controversial title will raise some eyebrows for sure, but it’s a direct reference to Isaiah 45:7–
“I form the light, and create darkness
I make peace, and create evil
I the Lord do all these things.”
Thus the title is not a reference to moral evil, but rather God’s pronunciation of judgement in His just wrath.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Crimson Moonlight - The Suffering
Beware, this song can cause massive headbanging with the pummeling sound from your speakers! Sweden’s Crimson Moonlight is one of the bands that I first heard of back in the day when I was stationed in the army. Met this guy named The Bat wearing a These 5 Down shirt & we became fast friends 20 some years ago. Check out his music on Reverb nation if you like industrial & hard trance here: https://www.reverbnation.com/thebatdjnuklier I mean how many Christian metalheads do you meet in your everyday life right? … Continued →

Song of the Day: Symphony of Heaven - Deathmarch
Here is a nice adult contemporary Sunday SOTD for ya…NOT!!!! This artist consists of an acquaintance of mine Logan Thompson who started solo back in 2016 who hails from Indiana, USA. What drew this fan twas the name & the debut single In Anger’s Midst. Since then, I hung out with most of the band members at my local festival Audiofeed (which is what Cornerstone festival became). Covid has deterred us Christian metal heads from hanging out again this year. His patch “WE are Metal, We Are Family” refers to Pastor Bob’s Sanctuary International.… Continued →

REVIEW : Anima Mortuum - Morbid Temple
With the development of the black metal genre into an ever-splintering family of subgenres (symphonic black, atmospheric black, blackgaze, folk black, traditional/harsh), there’s been a lot of room for diversity. However, and probably as a result, those artists who take the traditional sound have become fewer and fewer. Hailing from Chile Anima Mortuum take their stylistic nods from Venom and Bathory (instead of Emperor or Pyramids), and seem keen to keep the traditional sound alive.
Morbid Temple is a newly released 4-song demo, and it does not disappoint.… Continued →

REVIEW : Katharos - Stay My Captain/Warrior (single)
Katharos is yet another project from Fire (Elgibbor, Fire Throne, Nuclear Blaze) on vocals and guitars, this time with help from drummer Taberah. There is also some collaboration from former Frost Like Ashes members Sebat and Azahel for live dates.
This recording is a single and ‘b-side’ and what we have here is no-frills, raw black metal. No ‘atmospheric’ or ‘symphonic’ keyboards. No overdubs or anything of the like. This could easily pass as a release from the mid-90s Norwegian BM scene. Appropriately lo-fi with hissed/snarled vocals and trebly guitars, this is great if you like first or second wave black metal.… Continued →
