Song of the Day: Willet - You Are Not Just Holy

Another holy SOTD that belongs in my top 20 worship releases! Formerly known as Clearview, this hard rock band had some great songs such as Disaster, Wineskin & We’re Not Keeping This Quiet. Also check out the video for Searchlight which features American Sign Language. Hailing from Maryland, the 3 Willet brothers have since disbanded circa 2019. Members are still in the industry leading worship & filing & editing music videos. Check out these worshipful lyrics & the live video. As long as I live, there will be praises upon my lips And all my days will be spent loving You, You are worthy to be praised As long as I live, I will sing to you with endless praise Every knee will bow and tongue confess, that Jesus is Lord Just when I thought that this world was enough You were, you are, and you are to come!!… Continued →

Song of the Day: Addison Road - What Do I Know Of Holy

Addison Road is a pop/rock Texan band that had a 10 year span of releases. I was drawn to their singer’s (Jenny Chisholm) vocals that stood out among many female fronted bands. The rockier flair is not present though on today’s SOTD which is the last track to their 2008 S/T release. This is in my top 20 worship songs of all time. Check out these worshipful lyrics. I made You promises a thousand times I’d try to hear from heaven But I’d talk the whole time I think I made You too small I’ve never feared You at all, no If You touched my face Would I know You?… Continued →

Matty Mullins Releases New Song, "No Hold On Me"

Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire released a new song last night called “No Hold On Me”. If you haven’t already heard Matty’s solo material, it’s quite different from MMF and is much more pop/electronic. This one in particular has a pop/worship feel and what sounds like a choir behind him throughout the track. Good song, great message. Check it out below.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Poor Bishop Hooper - Psalm 10

If you’ve been following my new release lists closely you may have noticed one artist has been in every list this year. Poor Bishop Hooper is Jesse and Leah Roberts and they’ve been busy working on a new project called EveryPsalm. Over the course of the next three years Poor Bishop Hooper will release a new song inspired by a psalm every week until all 150 psalms have been covered. That’s some dedication! Tomorrow the band will be releasing Psalm 12, but in the meantime I’d like to share one of my favorites from the songs they’ve released so far this year, Psalm 10.… Continued →

Then It Ends Drop Cover Of "It Is Well"

Then It Ends have dropped a cover of the worship tune, “It Is Well” (the version done by Bethel Music). The cover is pretty well done and covers both a bit of clean worshipful ground, while giving it a bit of a hard rock feel as well. Check it out below for yourself and see what you think!  … Continued →

Song of the Day: Further Seems Forever - For All We Know

This wasn’t the typical Further Seems Forever song of unbridled aggression, melodies intertwined into some sort of cosmic explosion of pure joy and instant approval by even your most jaded friend. This song was somewhat of a departure although still incorporating that classic “emo” sound they’d been pegged with for years. Something about this song evokes passion and unrelenting “worship”. Maybe it was intentional or possibly an unintentional after thought but this song leads one into contemplation and self-analyzing, directing you into a heaven’s gaze. Jon Bunch despite any shortcomings he may have had in the eyes of vicious teens and young adults who had blood thirsty claws out for the throat of this “new” vocalist, captured the attention of generations of different music fans despite genre.… Continued →

Five EPs From 2019 You Can Download for Free

Streaming is great and all but it’s not for everyone. At least that’s the impression I got last time I wrote about albums you can download for free. So I’ve got five more free EPs that released during 2019 you can add to collection. 1. Roelant – The Narrows This 5-song EP is a contender for my best albums/EPs of 2019. Roelant first crossed my radar in 2015 with their album Music to Change the World but failed to making a lasting impression. That all changed when I heard the lead single “Wrong” from their new EP The Narrows earlier this year (check it out below).… Continued →

REVIEW : Humble Feet

Every so often a reviewer decides to review an album purely out of appreciation for the album that they just heard, and in the case of Humble Feet‘s debut album, that certainly holds true. For those unfamiliar with them, Humble Feet is an acoustic husband-wife duo. Their music is highly melodic, orchestral, and deeply rooted in Scripture. In fact, the couple have served as missionaries overseas, and all of the music for their debut was written while in the field. The album opens with “Quench”, a light and airy acoustic folk song.… Continued →

Adam Lohrbach (Homegrown) Leads Bridgelife Worship

I found an interesting, cool news bit I’d like to share with you all today. Adam Lohrbach who played bass and lead vocals for the pop-punk band Homegrown, has been leading worship for Bridgelife Worship here in So Cal for several years. I just caught on to this project recently and was excited to learn of the “Homegrown” connection. I enjoyed albums like “Act Your Age” and “Kings of Pop” as well as their final ep. You can check out The Bridge (Church) out of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.… Continued →

REVIEW : United Harvest Workers Union - United Harvest Workers Union

Although this was released around Easter of 2019, I only recently stumbled across this gem while perusing the Zap Records page on bandcamp. As it turns out, its history is even deeper than, having been recorded and self-released in 2010. Hailing from Pittsburgh, the band has roots in the punk scene in that area, but UHWU is a completely different animal. The union was formed to create “authentic church music . . . devoid of hype.” So I guess you could call this a worship band, but it’s not what you think.… Continued →
